soldier in need of some helpful feedback
i know you've all heard this before about should i shouldn't i. im simply asking for some feedback from some evo owners i am coming off most recently an 08 stock wrx and prior to that a boosted vr6 gti self built im proficient in cars and has been a hobby for about 5 years. im trying to find out what you guys think because i believe the people who test these cars real life are worth 100times more than any review done in a day. i am looking at buying an 03 evo VIII from a friend of my dads. he has owned it since showroom and took great care of it. now im not looking for anything crazy horsepower or speed the mods on the car are as follows:aem CAI, buschur racing exhaust, apexi blow off valve, upgraded to brembo big brake kit apexi s-afc neo computer, greddy turbo timer, upgraded FMIC, hks 264/264 camshafts, jun flywheel, exedy clutch, walbro fuel pump. now i have no plans on going any further with this bar possible short shifter strictly for a crispness. i want to know that with the light modifications done will the car be a forgiving daily driver. im not trying to race. it will most likely be driven 90% of the time from my house to work on base(by this time i will be at my duty station active duty army). i just wanted something that will be able to stay with what im used to and still be a fun car to drive as well as a daily driver/ grocery getter to cruise around in, especially with the wife recently getting a new civic
. any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you ahead of time.
absolutely! Great thing with the Evo is it can tear it up in snow also (snow tires of course) I had mine with bolt on mods in Maryland and even in snow, had no problems. Only mod I would include is cruise control!!
You should be fine with those mods and it being a daily driver. Actually thats not a very extensive list of mods. I have a IX with more mods and it's almost a daily driver. I do take it to a road track everynow and then with no issues. You should be happy with your choice.
Those mods are all pretty mild and shouldn't give you any problems. Mu advice would be to replace that Apexi BOV with a stock IX BOV and remove the Neo in favor of an ECUFlash tune since they're much more comprehensive and ideal for safely extracting all the gains from your setup.

my evo is my family car and daily with more mods then that car has and its great.btw, are you sure he has bembo bbk?the car comes stock with brembos and with his mods there would be no need for a bbk.

yeah you will have absolutely no problem with those mods, those cams are basically NO bigger then the stock cams... get rid of that bov and go with either a metal 9 or a synapse recirc'd for a better daily driver!
i would get a MBC or EBC change bov ot aps twin vent bov. Then problay upgrade to a evo 9 turbo or hta green for the ultimate street car for fun. You should then get a real tune from a tuner for all this. You might want to think about changing the cams to at least 272. hks version so be nice and mild enough. Then call it if thats all your interested in.

thank you all so much i never thought id get all this feedback so quick. i am sure that it has the brembo big brake kit. the previous owner was more of a status kinda guy if it cost money he would buy it so yes i am sure he has reciepts for all parts and labor. and i have seen alot telling me the evo runs alot better with a recirc dv than a vent-to-atmosphere bov. although you guys seem to know what your talking about can you please humor me and explain why this is my gti i had built had a vta bov and i never ad problems with that. and for those that say go with 272 cams. i think if anything i will end p going with a 264/272 cam setup but i wil not push both to 272 i have heard videos of a 272/272 cam setup and they seem to have a very rough idle, again i will be spending most time on military duty station and they have stricter vehicle laws than most places. especially with Db levels which i know those cams wont effect a whole lot but i am not trying to do anything more than the 264 intake and 272 exhaust hybrid setup which i have heard is nice. also my first plan is to get it professionally tuned if time is given while i am visiting home. i have a shop there that does great work but after training i will only have 5 days at home to get everything moved and uy the car register and then leave for my duty station.
thank you. would it make a difference if the car was tuned because the previous owner has had the car tuned conservatively i have driven it and the idle is beautiful no roughness and hasn't stalled out ever so im thinking a tune will help those issues? i may still go to a diverter valve i have heard its good to use the evo IX dv. is this true?
