New Evo Owner
Congrats on the purchase. Welcome to the Evo family
Check out this thread for the maintenance schedule and part numbers:

It would be a good idea to go ahead and change all the fluids now to be safe. Also check your belts for wear and replace them as needed (especially check out the accessory belt because there are some squeaking problems with the IX's).
I came from the Honda family as well and was a little concerned about the reliability of the Evo but you won't have any problems as long as you take care of it. Stay on top of the maintenance and always use quality parts when you do get around to modding (which will probably be soon).
So bottom line...change the fluids and do any other maintenance that may be needed at this time and then....go out and enjoy your Evo
Also, here's a modding thread for reference. I'd highly recommend a tune asap - best bang for buck mod in my opinion.

cool ive been there before over the past 3 or 4 years but it was in my civic it setup for drag so never could do the aUtoX bet fun to watch nonetheless. Ill definitely come out and meet a few of you guys.
Welcome and congrats!
Some do's and dont's -
Do check the compression before you buy (hopefully you did this), don't pay too much, dont waste money on mods until you have a clear plan in mind (looks, power, etc). You will reach what ever your goals are much easier (save cash and time) if you think them through first.
Do use AMSoil in the crank case ( I use it so I am bias of course), dont dog it out, do keep it clean, dont drive reckless, dont drink and drive, do wear a condom and last but not least....do enjoy
