I would change ALL the fluids:
Oil
Tranny
T-case
Rear Diff
Coolant
I would inspect the belts / brakes (maybe even brake fluid depending on how well it stops) / tires.
I would do a boost leak test.
As far as mods go - 89,000 isn't too too high. Start off with the basic bolt-ons and KEEP UP WITH THE MAINTENANCE. Never buy go fast parts without doing proper maintenance first.
Have fun and good luck

great questions, i get my evo used with high miles and i did some small mods to it without any problems. also, the guy took good care of the evo before i bought it from the dealership. I don't see any problem about modding your evo now. those engines are very strong.

dude you gettin ripped off BIG time for 21k....a car like that with that milage should be around 14-15k...i say look around more..and DON'T BUY their warrant because its a fake warranty and they will make you pay **** load of money before covering a damaged part.

why?
because mitsubishi doesn't honor their warranty what makes you think some random dealer will honor theirs?
they'll tell you "oh that's excluded in the warranty"
warranties like that are gimmicks to get a few extra hundred or thousand out of you...it's commission-able money
