K&N drop in
Installed the K&N drop in air filter about a month ago and have noticed that my MPGs have decreased instead of actually getting a little better or staying the same. I had the original OEM filter in before which looked awful from all the driving. Even though it's proven the K&N has the best filtration(read a thread on this) it doesn't give the best airflow. Maybe this is why?
I am just thinking I should forget this and just get the Injen or HKS rs Intake but I would want to mod a little more before I drop $$$ on a tune.
Or if anyone with another type of drop in (Perrin, HKS, Ralliart) can share their experiences I might just pick one of those up.

Could be many factors , such as a dirty filter that needs to be cleaned or your driving style . I've heard many good reviews on the k&n drop-in having superior filtration as well as much better airflow as opposed to the oem filter.
I received the filter brand new and I drive the same before and after. Hmm I might just get rid of it and grab a Works filter
The K&N filter does NOT filter as well as the stock paper filter so I'm not sure where you guys are getting your info. If you want to get a drop-in the Perrin is my favorite choice, or if you're going for an open filter element I also recommend the Perrin. The Amsoil cone filter is also nice, it filter better than the Perrin but does sacrifice a bit of power.

How are you calculating your mpgs?
How much of a difference in mpgs?
This could be many factors.
