just introducing myself names max. dont have an evo yet but my friend has a 10gsr and its the most beautiful thing iv ever seen and heard.
i have a suspended license atm but im saving up and planning on putting a down payment when the suspension is up.
Can anyone give me some kind of advice about what im getting into? do i want an evo 8, 9, or 10
and i have also been looking through the for sale threads and it looks like to me all the older evos are around 20-25k sometimes more, and iv just been wondering why they're so expensive when the evoX is pretty much the same price and can get it with under 6k miles.
sorry if i sound like a total N00B
but i wana know what im doing
thanks guys

Welcome to the site bud but be warned you're gonna be told to search. You have an array of things to think about when looking for an Evo. The differences are significant and personal preference. Kinda too much to put in a post but if you want some more in depth info you can PM me. I love me some noobs...=)
thanks guys, but are the 8s and 9s so expensive because they are getting rare? heres a scenario, how can an evo9 with like 40k miles be like 23grand? cant you find an evo10 for like 25 or 26 and it will have low *** mileage?

I found mine a little over a year ago with 85,000K stock except for exhaust and I paid 13,990. The guy I dealt with was awesome and I couldn't pass up the opportunity.
Is this a daily driver? A project car? Personally I believe your budget mostly dictates which one to go for. 8 and 9 would be better choices on a smaller budget just because you'd be buying a used car (hopefully from an individual and not a dealer)

All Evo's are ragged on at some point. You have to really be cautious and know what to look for!
Yes, the higher mileage will start to suffer problems. You just want to make sure that someone took care of it. Try and find one, somehow, that was dealer serviced. Ask for maintenance logs as with any car. If they can tell you about it and everything checks out, AND you have it inspected thoroughly and properly then you'll probably be ok.
You're going to drive the Evo hard so you can't assume someone else hasn't already!
Only real way around that is Evo X.

Someone who knows about Evo's and what to look for on them.
I went with the dealership and had mine checked out. Have them do a good inspection, trust me, $100-500 upfront to find out something major is wrong is a lot better than buying something that will explode and cost thousands to repair.
(Happened to a buddy of mine, bought a Civic SI used for $7500 and had an engine go and had to get another loan for $4500. Don't make that mistake. Get it inspected!)
