Who thinks an SE is worth more than just a regular IX
The IX RS is only ~40lbs lighter than the SE. I've owned both. The SE is the official "last CT9A" sold as the 07 model in other markets. It's also the only way to get an aluminum roof with ABS and a 5-speed. Add the standard HIDs and it's the complete package and the second lightest IX available.
Everyone is (defferent?) and i respect that you like the RS it is just a personal pick for everyone... I dont like MR's cause tranny's suck, I love the look just not the tranny, so i took my 6 speed out... pointless but yes, i like the feel of the 5 spd but wanted the MR

+1. I've had all the Evos...and here I am in an RS now. I had the hardest time fighting to get this one and paid a very pretty penny for it.
SE is just a package added, it doesn't change the VIN of the car. A 5 Speed SE is still a normal IX, and an MR SE is just an MR by VIN. Dealers don't care what package you have, to them it might as well be aftermarket parts.

Just to chime in here, because it's the internet: You can strip any evo down (sans the MR) to make an RS, and the $80.00 OEM trunk bar seals the deal. It's far cheaper to make any non-MR IX into an RS, than the other way around.
My own personal opinion is that the RS is so sought after because its still the cheapest way to get in to an evo. Nothing wrong with that, we all still rock the same motor. Just sayin... I don't see many SE's around, I do get the impression they are somewhat rare. Whenever you see the wheels or seats for an SE go up in the marketplace, they generally fetch a pretty penny really quickly. I think this all adds up to: basically if you know about the Evo, and the diff trims, yes - the SE would be worth more... TO YOU. Dealerships don't care. They just see its not an MR and assume you've been adding mods yourself. my .02

A dealer would say they dont care but once they own it and try and sell it they care they may pay 16 for an Se and sell it for over reg. book cause it is an SE... F***in crooked dealers! But to a Consumer such as all of us on here they would be worth more!

to all of us the se if differnent because we know what the diffrences are between all the models dealers dont care they see evo the charge an @#$ ton of money for them..just my opinion
I didnt buy an SE cause i couldnt find one... i drove 1500 miles for mine cause it was a killer deal and super clean and the closest SE i didnt wanna drive 2500 and would have paid like 25000 i paid 21000 for mine in 08'
The leather on the SE, and MR Appearance Package evos is different than GSR leather. GSR leather seats wear much quicker than the SE material and it both feels and looks different.
All SE models are actually '07 models sold as '06s. It sucks they don't have a separate notification.
I don't know why Mitsubishi skips model years, they even did this with 2009 Evo X (none labeled) which was sold as a 2008 model.

So tell me this: let's say you are shopping for an IX and came came across a regular GSR and SE. Same mileage, same condition, etc, otherwise identical. The SE is priced at $100 more. You wouldn't pay an extra 100 bucks to have:
• Aluminum roof (lighter weight + lower center of gravity)
• HIDs
• BBS
• Red stitched seats
?
I don't know about you, but for most people, an SE is worth more. How much more depends on the person of course (personally speaking, for a used car, I'd probably be willing to pay up to $1000 more for an SE).

In the case of the '06/IX, I believe there were no '07 models because updated/more stringent DOT safety regulations made front side airbags a requirement. The added cost wasn't worth it for Mitsu so they made an extra large production run at the end of the '06 model year to ensure supply into 2007.
