Can someone tell me if the Defi Control Unit is required to run a Defi boost gauge?

 

I know this the newbie forum, but someone has to know this.

 

A control unit is only required for the BF gauges. What kind of gauge do you have?

 

Then I must be color blind because I have white faced gauges that use a control unit.

iirc the only defi gauge that doesn't require a contol unit would be if it was a mechanical gauge. But if I'm wrong please someone correct me

Someone clarify, what does BF mean?

The BF is a model made by Defi. To my knowledge, Defi only makes 2 types of actual gauges. The BF and the Racer. The BF requires the Control Unit but the Racer does not.

 

BF = Black Face gauges. They go completely dark when off, hence the "Black Face". There's an older Defi 52mm gauge that matched our dash and was mechanical only, and did not require a control unit, but to my knowledge, all of the 60mm versions do unless otherwise specified as a "mechanical" gauge.

 

Correct, I have the 60 mm BF Premium ambers and have a control box, the white racer ones don't require a controller. They are significantly cheaper.
