ACD really worth it?
ACD really worth it?
I am looking at getting an evo 8 in the near future. I've read that 03-04 models do not have the ACD, and that 03 models do not have a front lsd. Is the front lsd, along with the ACD in later models, worth the extra money? Does the ACD really make an evo what it is? My current car, a st185 celica all trac features a torsen split center diff with open diffs in the fron and rear. I love my car but it handles like *** on the road, much more fun off road.
If I do happen to buy an evo, it will be used for daily driving as well as ocassional auto x and mountain runs.

for autocross and track days the ACD is very useful especially with the expanding knowledge of ACD tuning and the gruppe s flash tunes available now...for drag racing i agree with the guy above...jus another thing to worry about breaking haha
hmm so how often does the ACD crap out? is there a large price difference between cars with the ACD and those without? also, are the rs models the only ones offered with regular mechanical center lsd's?
Not that this is relevant for you, living in central ca, but I went from a Subaru Legacy to my Evo this last winter....and the Evo handled the slippery roads 10 times better than the Legacy...which had open front and rear diffs and a viscous coupling type transfer case/center diff. That tells me right there that the ACD and frt/rear limited slip makes a huge difference in road grip.
