Shift Knob gets HOT!!!

I have an 05 Evo VIII MR. It has the stock shift knob and damn is it a pain in the ****. This winter, I had to have gloves in the car at all times cuz the damn thing was so cold it was nuts. Now, barely into Spring, and with the car in the sun all day during work, the damn thing is getting pretty warm. I love my shifter and the stock look, but when it hits mid 90's on a daily basis, I am gonna be leaving skin on that thing...

Just wondering what other people are doing, or have done about this small issue. I am considering just putting a glove over it or something. Anyone else dealt with it and have suggestions?

Simple solution - the shift knob is not a hand rest. It takes ~1/2 second to shift leisurely, not enough time to really feel the knob.

I understand the handrest thing, and I do not use mine as one. Maybe its just the direct sun, but believe me, the other day it was low 80's and the thing was hot as hell after work.

Put one of those gloves on the knob (the ones kids always wear when they go ice skating) while its parked to keep it from taking direct sunlight.

I had this probably once and I just kept a microfiber towel in the door of the car at all times. Sometimes I would cover up the knob before I got out of the car or else just shift with the knob covered. Either way it works. Good luck

not too much you can do. I liv ein Wisconsin and freeze my hand in winter and Blister it in summer. you could always rig a nitrous nozzle on it triggered by the door unlock switch, it could cool it down and give you a laugh for a minute or so. LOL

I also recommend a Delrin shift knob (as the second poster did).
