I have a stock 1G AWD and stock (less exhaust) 06 MR, both of which I bought new. Although the basic architecture is the same, there's really no comparison in the two. The Evo has MUCH better steering, handling, braking, suspension (lots of aluminum), 80+ additional stock HP, and what seems like 50% more low end power (<4000 rpm). Plus Recaros, a nice Momo steering wheel....

I do like the look and size of the 1G/2G cars more than the Evo though. The evo is not very sexy looking at all and I don't personally need the 4 doors.

EVO 8 hands down... I can't belive these cars are even being compared. It also depends on the budget. The two's prices are greatly different.

I to have loved both cars and have pondered this very question once apon a time, I chose the Evo the first time and when i sold it to come back to the states (military stationed in Guam) I had to choose which one I wanted all over again. I chose the evo again and will every time because as was stated many times on here, the older GSX is close to the evo but with newer parts, equipment and knowledge the evo has far surpassed the GSX. The GSX was a great car for it's time but as with 99.9% of things newer is better!

Well if im gonna build like an all out drag car it will be a 1g....cause u can get em hella cheap, but the Evo driveline will go in it. That's the only way I'd have a 1g
2g I dislike alot!

I have owned both like many others and my opinion is the same. The 2Gb is far and away better looking, but the EVO does everything else better.

That makes sense to an extent but the cost of the driveline swap should be considered... Evo 8's are getting pretty cheap.

That would be time consuming and not very cost effective....you might as well had bought the evo

I've had a dsm before and I loved it. However, once I stepped inside a evo and test drived it I lost interest in the dsm. If I could (at the time) I'd have both. Unfortunately I couldn't. So I sold the dsm to my friend and got a evo. I at times miss it when I see my friend. I think I can afford to have both now. However, I don't see any that are in good condition. They're all beat to ****
