Complete and Utter NEWBIE!

Hey all...I got my Lancer OZ last year. I'm a total car newbie, though! Haha...you guys probably hate guys like me. My question is...where do I go to read up on the BASICS of souping up a car? Also, is the Lancer OZ considered a big pansy car? You guys talk about the EVO's a lot in here...am I a wuss for getting the 4cyl? haha...thanks!

You came to a great place to learn. Just look around before you ask questions, cuz chances are they've already been asked at least once. That way I won't jump down your throat.

How Stuff Works has FREAKIN' PHENOMENAL in depth descriptions of how automotive gadgetry works and all sorts of fun stuff besides. Good place to get to know your car. Also just browsing the forums and talking to people both through posts and off the forums are great ways to learn. I came here knowing nothing...and now I know next to nothing...which is a mighty big step up.

Welcome aboard!: D

why do they say "souping"?

nevermind..

NOUN
1. A liquid food prepared from meat, fish, or vegetable stock combined with various other ingredients and often containing solid pieces. 2. A liquid rich in organic compounds and providing favorable conditions for the emergence and growth of life forms: "primordial soup." 3. Slang Something having the appearance or a consistency suggestive of soup, especially: a. Dense fog. b. Nitroglycerine. 4. A chaotic or unfortunate situation.

PHRASAL VERBS
soup up Slang To modify (something) so as to increase its capacity to perform or satisfy, especially to add horsepower or greater speed potential to (an engine or a vehicle).

Thanks! And a crazy story...

Haven't been around for a while...but thanks for the welcome guys!
I really appreciate it.

I have a horrible story to tell...you'll probably laugh at my stupidity.

I was pulling into my friend's driveway a few months ago, who lives on a steep hill. Turns out I was pulling into the wrong house, though...and the "driveway" i turned into was this other guy's lawn! I must've been really tired or something...there weren't any lights on at the house, so i couldn't tell. Anyhow...I drove up onto the guy's curb, and couldn't back off it, for some reason. So I get out, and push the car off....forgetting to put on the E-brake. The car goes rolling backwards down the hill, curving right around his new pickup truck that was parked on the side of the road, and flying into his driveway! (car went around in a semi-circle, 'cause the wheel was turned all the way to the right) He had these 2-ft high rocks in the middle of his driveway, which my car hit, and bounced up, landing on another of the rocks. The car was up at a 45 degree angle! Right under the car, about 1 inch (literally) away, was the guy's new Pontiac Grand Am! It was insane! I felt like the biggest moron in the world...but i'm a lucky one.

The only damage was some chunky scrapes on the lower rear, and some denting to the gas tank (which was where it landed on the rock), which doesn't need to be fixed...

Just thought you guys would like a laugh at my stupidity!
