HELP!!! Powdercoating Faded Calipers
I have a 2003 Evo that has the typical calipers peeling issue. I have recleared them once using a high temp spray can clear and that lasted about a year. I have also tried to spray can them a different color as well but it has started to chip away. I scuffed them, then cleaned with brake cleaner in both cases with less then acceptable results. I have now decided to powder coat them. What should I do to prep them? Do I need to take the seals out to keep them from getting cooked? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

I doubt the powdercoating oven gets any hotter than your brakes would under hard use anyway- I wouldn't worry about things getting 'cooked' but maybe tape off whatever you don't want coated in advance, just in case... worst case scenario, they peel it off and tape it again if you didn't do it right.

Ok so remove pistons and seals, and then clean surfaces being painting. I am assuming then bolt the calipers halfs back together, without seals and pistons of course, so the matting surfaces dont get damaged from sandblasted or powder coated?!?! Or should I just tape the matting surfaces using some painters tape?
