Rx-8 to Evo newb
Rx-8 to Evo newb
Whats up guys,
I own a 2006 Rx8 and I'm also a vendor on Rx8/Rx7 club. I am getting ready to move out of Florida to New Jersey. Since winters are usually bad up there I plan on trading my 8 in for an Evo. There lies my dilemma. I am stuck b/w two Evo's. So here are the links to the two I'm currently looking at:
Evo X GSR w/SSS
and
2006 Evo 9 MR
I've been lurking this forum researching the Evo X. I know there are a few difference between the two cars, like the s-awc, etc. I actually even found the previous owner of that Evo X and PM'd him. I'm hoping he will be honest with me about how he treated the car. Any info or tips you guys can provide me with will be greatly appreciated! I can't wait to be an evo owner!

As for the OP, I won't state the obvious as I'm sure everyone else will; but here is something you may have not considered yet. The seats in the X are for smaller folks in my opinion.

You like the IX over the GTR listed in your sig? That surprises me, and makes me happy at the same time. IMO go with the IX...I love mine, responds to inexpensive mods very well.

Test drove that Evo yesterday, I fit perfectly in the seat. I'm 5'10, 168 lbs pretty slim guy.
Indeed the price is a little high, luckily for me I'm brown and was born with superhuman-like negotiation skills (or maybe I'm just cheap??
.) I have yet to look up the insurance quote, but I know for a fact it will be way higher than what I pay for the Rx8.

Would I be happier in the Evo X, or the IV? Coming from an Rx8, I love road racing, tracking, and most importantly, handling. I'm positive I'll have a blast in both, but for the prices listed I am also considering a new 2010 GSR w/sss.
Both the IX and the X are great but for slightly different reasons. X is probably a better daily driver, IX is probably the better choice if you plan on tracking/autocrossing the car. But to be honest I would not chose either of the cars you linked. There are better deals to be found for sure.
Also, you should buy a New Jersey car if you can to avoid extra licencing fees.
If you decide on getting a IX, look at the SE model, it has all the light weight goodness of the MR but with the 5 speed, which is a little more robust.
Either way you are in for a world of fun.

Your sig says you own a GTR. Are you saying you like your 9MR more than your GTR? Honestly, I can believe it... just making sure.
