Buying an 8 soon
Buying an 8 soon
im going to be buying an evo 8 or 9 soon, after much going back and forth on what car i really wanted i kept coming back to this one. I was very close to buying a 93 rx7 as i love those cars, but i just dont have the money to be repairing it every other day. Fantastic cars, but when you have proper rotary owners telling you they are unreliable, you know somethings wrong. Do you guys consider the evo 8/9 to be a good daily driver? i coming from a bmw 318ti 5 speed with 152xxx miles that never gave me any problems. Im hoping the same from an evo. i want a nice reliable car that i can drive daily if i like.
Get a IX. they are faster and more mod friendly than the 8's. they look better, and have a much better interior. Can't go wrong. if you must get an 8, make sure it's an 05 8. As for reliability, check my sig, and my threads about the contents of my sig. good luck, and welcome.

Where in VA are you? I come up that way every now and then (in-laws live in Hampton Roads) I would be glad to help you check out a car or two. Drop me a PM.

Thanks for the responses everyone i really do appreciate it. Nice to have a helpful website with people willing to give advice. IS there a reason i should be staying away from the earlier evo 8's?
No get an 05, you'll pay less then you will for a 9 and you still everything the IX has other then MIVEC on the intake side and the IX has a better turbo.
The interior is fine on the VIII, I have the SSL package as for the looks the only difference is the front bumper and I have a IX SE front bumper anyways. For the money you'll save on buying an 05 you'll have more money to upgrade.
Doesn't make sense to me to pay more money to get a car with a bigger turbo if you plan on upgrading the turbo later on anyways.

i would get a 03 or 04 all that extra money you can put into mods and get a better turbo exhaust exterior items etc. you can get a 03 cheaper as well but to me a evo is a evo and majority of people upgrade them anyways so not like your keeping it stock
