Well since we are talking about the Evo's Launch Control I'm not sure how to reply to this statement

I was told that with the stock ecu I could have had it turned on when I was getting it tuned, But unlike the ems on stock ecu the motor reads some knock with anti lag or something along those lines...
Maybe I am a n00b. What would you call the factory 2 step? I've always considered it a launch control.

That's right, Thats what i thought.
He gave me a JDM IX map, Then started tuning it from there. That's why I had the option to do it.

Anti lag>Everything. It builds a lot more boost, Sounds 10x better then 2-step, and shoots flames. FTW. lol

It seems like almost every evo in my area has aem with anti lag and no lift shift, I need to step my game up!

well you still have the stock usdm ecu right? you have to have a jdm ecu to have antilag along with all the hardware on the car to do it. have you ever taken the manifold heatshield off? if you have then you wouldve noticed the 2 places on the manifold that looks like something should be there and thats where the hardware would be placed along with one of the valves for it too

Launch:
a : to throw forward : hurl b : to release, catapult, or send off (a self-propelled object) <launch a rocket>

Control:
a : to exercise restraining or directing influence over : regulate b : to have power over : rule c : to reduce the incidence or severity of especially to innocuous levels <control an insect population> <control a disease>

So setting the rev limit to allow you to control the amount of power produced when you car launching the car from a stop. With consistent repeatable results sounds like it fits int that definition.

that doesn't really answer my question. i have an idea of how it works, but i'm asking specifically how the EVO's factory system works. anybody?

Well, why don't you produce one shred of evidence that states Evo8s have "Launch Control" and I will surely and quickly admit that I'm wrong. Taking two different words from Webster's and trying to make them fit your argument is, well it's just weak and embarrasing...

To the OP, Evo8s do not have Launch Control.
