Debate settling

Ok I have a debate going with someone who I cant stand an d this debate is really getting under my skin.

Ok the debate that is going.....Can you boost in 5th gear low rpm's, and high rpm's with out lugging the motor or anything? Think about the gear ratio's of the tranny, think about the fact that it's a four cylinder motor that is turbo charged and how much lug you make the motor pull. I am posting a POLL so please vote!

Thanks All who vote and read!

what do you consider low rpm's? idle - 2k? and what do you consider high rpm's 3k + up?
High rpm's wont lug the motor out as ur in full boost

I made some confussion here my fault and apologies. I was more or less talking about boosting in 5th gear at about 1800-2000 rpm's after shifting from 4th or something. So lugging the motor is the big issue. Thanks for you responses!

I don't think I have ever been in 5th gear at those rpms.

If you are racing and going from 4th-5th then thats fine. You don't want to roll into it at a low rpm in 5th. My car in 5th never sees more than 5psi in 5th unless I'm over my full boost threshold of 4200-4500rpm then it is ***** to the wall!

I have tried mashing on the gas in 5th, low rpm (~ 2500) when v.7 first came out...

NOT a good idea!!! I would not roll into full boost (in 5th) till ~ 4000 +. If your not using v.7, u might be able to get away w/ it a lil sooner, but still not the best idea...

Keep it coming. The more the merrier going along the lines of post # 10 and 11. That is what I mean if you are running 4th all the way out then shift into 5th ok but if you are easy rollin fom 4th to 5th and decide to mash on it at a low(er) rpm that is not good.
