rims before lowering
I personally would lower the car first. It looks better on stock wheels lowered than it does on 17's at normal ride height.
I don't know of any reason why the car should have wheels first...

so you know how far to drop, of course! i'm on 18s with a 40 series sidewall... when i first got my car, i planned on 17s with a 35 series sidewall. this is close to a 2" difference in size... that would be A LOT different. i'm going to drop on eibachs now, but before i probably would have gone with progress for the lower drop. all i can recommend if you're going to go with a drop first is that you get a full tein coilover setup... you'll want to be able to adjust your ride height.

well u got an OZ..so u got decent rims...us ES ppl...want rims reaaaaaaaaaaaly bad lol. sometimes, the gap from aftermarket wheels on the stock height doesnt look horrid...i kind like some gap, but not a 6" gap or something...like a 1" gap looks kinda cool to me....but i got an ES...i want 18" rims and progress...lmao..go me...im to poor to afford now.
but since u got the OZ wheels...im sure u could lower before rims. but if u had the ugly ES wheels..u'd understand where im coming from

Wouldn't it be okay to lower it with some Eibach's which is only a 1.2 - 1.3 drop, then later on throw on some 17's?
I'm not trying to start a fight or anything, I'm just starting in modding and don't know too much. Thanks for the input.

if you're going to go with this size rim (17x7 or 17x7.5... don't go 17x8) i would recommend a 40 series sidewall. something along the lines of 205/40/17. a 35 series sidewall (the height) i think makes the rim look too small as a 17. just my opinion.
It doesnt matter what you do first. do what you like, its your car. the best way to go for wheels/tire is 17x7 - 205/40 or 45 series tire. i would recommend the eibachs...being the least drop. just depends on the roads around you. good luck on your decision, and post pics!!!
