Turbo back exhaust with no cat, a good tune, or if you vent ur bov to the atmosphere youll backfire.

lol not every city checks emissions. but yup go catless and let ur bov vent to atmosphere and u'll be shooting out flames. go full throttle and u'll shoot 3-5ft flames.

An Evo does not shoot flames because of a VTA and a catless exhaust. While those items help facilitate it, it's because the air/fuel mixture is rich in between shifts. The unburnt fuel is ignited in the exhaust and out shoots a flame.

It would be sweet to be able to throw out a flame on command every so often!

This. Back when the RX-8s first came out and I was considering one, I remember them being able to spit flames when the B&B catback (not catless) exhaust was installed, because the car ran so rich.

I think it's amusing, but I'm sure it gets old after a while like BOVs (in applications where they aren't necessary)... plus in at least a few states, you can definitely get pulled over for that and hassled.

it can be done in the tune, just put a block of -10 timing in low load at higher rpm and it will do it every time you let off the throttle

Which is exactly what a VTA bov does on a MAF equipped car... You just denied your statement and confirmed it right after that, while explaining why it happens.

Bigger injectors and f pump helps too. Usually 2 stepping or anti lag shoots flames but my evo doesnt. I have intake, licp, tbe and bov (vta).

the car has to be able to use the extra fuel but it still burns at the same a/f ratio. the 2 step doesn't cause the car to pop flames unless youre running a different ecu or ignition system
