Just wondering did anyone get rid of their 8/9 for a 10 instead. Any reasons for the change. The evo 8 or 9 seems to have much more performance potential, but the 10 seems to be a better daily driver.

my 8 has been an excellent daily driver, i only test drove a x and it felt pretty similar. the 4g63 has been around for ages and as soon as some shops spend more time with the x then the mod potential will be about the same if not better.

I had my 8 for 3 years and traded it for an X with no regrets. My 8 was an 11 sec car, I am expecting high 10's out of my X with much better street manors than my 8. I did love my 8 however and will own onother one some day.

I have to say I do love the way the 8/9 prices have been dropping. It will make it an affordable winter car option in the near future. I have always had a soft spot for white rs's. On road manors, road noise, braking, and handlEing is much improved on the X vs the ct9a in my experience.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...-ix-merge.html - which this thread will probably get merged with soon enough.
Literally almost 200 pages of this stuff going back and forth. Summary: X has proved its worth and then some - especially in rallying. For the "ULTIMATE" time attack car.. well we've yet to see who will come out on top. As of now cars like the HKS Evo and the Sierra Evo are still on top - HKS Evo being on top since 2004 - in a matter of 3 years, just as long as the X has been out now in Japan.
X supporters tout better chassis, wider wheel/tire set ups, AYC, AWD overall.
CT9A supporters tout weight, engine placed further back, potential of mechanical rears over AYC.
If you're gonna rally I'd go with X (see RobevoRS).
If it's for drag probably CT9A, probably 8 RS or something.
For Auto-x I'm leaning with the CT9A as of right now, the X's have been out for 2 years now but the older cars are still dominant, probably the weight is playing a big factor.
Track/street honestly I think is a wash. Gates did have a great season the past year but that car is not anything close to street IMO. I'd never strip my car all the way down and acid dip the chassis and whatever, and I doubt you will either. Stock vs stock is even on just about any given track, which is impressive on the IXs part considering it has no AYC, smaller less grippy wheel/tire set up, etc. Add back a rear diff on par with AYC (for track) like a Cusco, and you are in good shape with the CT9A IMO.
In terms of DD, people always say the X but I don't know based on a couple points: I have a dvd/nav set up with orbital hvac, so in terms of that regard I'm covered, including bluetooth connectivity etc. The X has cruise control, which I honestly am not even sure I would use (i dont want to sit at one rpm at on the highway for long periods of time). It also has Auto climate control, which I don't think I would use either - I typically avoid even using the air conditioning on the car unless it's blisteringly hot. I know a lot of people are the same way about their cars, but also a lot of people who would love cruise control and auto clime control

My exwife and I traded in a IX for a X. Reason: She thought the X looked better. I guess the electronic gauge cluster was more appealing. I drove the X quite a bit. I just didn't like the overall feel of it. That is just me though. My IX opinion is biased as I have owned 3.

Went from 9 to X , so far I'm loving it , when I upgrade my turbo she will be just as fast if not even faster no doubt in my mind
