Hopefully Picking Up a GSR This Weekend
Hopefully Picking Up a GSR This Weekend
Greetings everyone. If all goes well at a few Texas Mitsu dealerships this weekend, I will be driving off the lot in a 2010 GSR (options TBD). Don Herring, Jr. in Irving has fantastic customer service. Let's see if he sticks true to his word and beats the great internet deals at Lewisville Mitsubishi (2010 GSR w/SSS, aero, and interior sport for 33.6k, and an offer for me to come in and haggle for a lower price). Overall, I'm pretty stoked to check out some new GSRs and join the EvoM crew (in a good way, not the "my 2nd - 3rd is notchy and why is my glove box rattling plz help cuz my evo cost too much for these problems" way).
Kudos to the mods and regulars in the Evo X General forums whose superb information has let me do some easy homework over the past year and essentially fall in pseudo-love with a great racing machine.

Sold! New WW on the Dallas Streets
Pulled the trigger today. I tell you, Don Herring has fantastic customer service. I walked in with printouts of TSBs and a sh*t load of questions for sales rep. Jason M, and he took them all and made sure I was content with everything.
We checked the car's build date together to make sure it didn't need the AWC reprogramming, checked and ziptied the FPR hose, and he even made sure I had the blue relay! 10 out of 10 for this gentleman (and scholar?).
The car had 54 miles on it from being transported to Irving, TX from the Don Herring Mitsu in Plano, but that wasn't a really big deal to me. Overall, it drives excellent. No erratic idle, drives smoothly, although I do hear a little bit of a whistle when accelerating moderately. Not sure if that's the turbo spooling up.
My evo is popping a lot of my cherries (???). It's my first 1) manual, 2) turbo, and 3) AWD car. If I can say one thing, it's that this car is damn nooby friendly. No problems taking it home from the dealership with only my experience from the test drive. Of course then came the huge hill test...Yes, I stalled about 5 times on this and also smelled the clutch burn, but it's all part of training and once I found the engagement point it was smooth as butter for the rest of the night.
Major, major kudos to the guys at Don Herring. You be good to them, and they will act in kind. I even picked up the extended warranty from Herring since they have a good relationship with Cobb Plano and warranty stage 2 rides. Heck, Don Herring Jr. himself had a leftover AP sitting on his desk that I was about to pick up until I realized I Just put 5k down into the new car and better call it quits for now.
Before I get too excited and write a novel, I'll leave it at this: Pics coming soon!

Thanks everyone
Yeah man I'd like to come out soon. I'm going to miss the roundup at Cobb Plano at the end of the month, which reeeeally sucks, but I'm looking forward to future meet and greets. I want to say Don said you guys meet on the 3rd Thursday of every month, so I can make next months for sure.
So far the car's been awesome. It's a freaking attention hog. I'm currently cooped up in the library preparing for an exam on Nov 5th and all I can think about is hopping in the evo and cruising
