OK, I have done allot of searching and I am clueless on what this could be. Can someone tell me why when I shift at high RPMs it seems like my throttle is sticking and it revs to long? Also when accelerating at high boost to maybe 5-6k RPMs... if you let up on the throttle its almost like the car is running on cruise control as the throttle seems to stay up far to long. I have checked the throttle cable and its not tight? Is this normal or is their something else I should be looking at?
I have a 2005 EVO 8 RS with about 30k miles...

check your throttle body. could be all gunked up in there...also is it accelerating when the rpms are still increasing when you let off the pedal? basically what i am getting at is maybe your clutch is slipping.

 

There were changes to the ECUs in 05-06 Evos. This was to improve emissions. Search for "throttle hang" and there will be some good reading for you.

 

go get it tuned. they can fix that with a tune

 

i say get a tb spray, and spray it to clean it and go from there. usually tb stick due to gunk building up.
