Need advice on very first mod!

I have an almost stock 03 with about 60k on the clock .. and i am ready to start modding my DD! I am looking for quicker engine response along with more TQ and HP through the mid range and up top.

After searching around i settled on getting a CAT/D-Pipe and LICP (along with a tune of course). I think these are best bang for the buck. BUT.. I am also reading now that Cam's can be the best for what i am trying to accomplish.

Seeing how a set of Kelfords (i read these are good for DD) will run about as much as a good Cat/Dpipe and LICP I am now split on which route to go.

Can anyone settle it for me?

Hmmmm only one thing? Let me see....Br 2.3 Long block, does that count as one thing? lol

Seriously I think your best bet is an intake and TBE with a tune. Its a good jumping off point and doesnt shoe horn you into anything so down the road you can figure out what exactly you wanna do. Cams you may just end up changing the farther into modding you get.

exhaust and air filter are the right place to start. get a boost gauge too. hold off on cams for a while..until u make sure the car can handle the initial power increase.

The evo already runs rich from the factory...adding more fuel without increasing the ammount of air it can take in is kinda stupid. Im not against a fuel pump but thats after tbe and intake.

Intake, exhaust, walboro fuel pump, manual boost controller, boost gauge, may be an aftermarket recirculated bov, good clutch and a good tune run about 25psi and you will be at around 330whp. Hold off on the cams if you daily drive it. It will be really suck if you run the car with a/c on. The engine will keep shutting off on you very often when you come to a stop or turning. i have that with my car i do not like it at all. But with the cams you will gain about 30whp more.

That's not entirely true, I ran HKS 272's with Intake, exhaust, fuel pump, MBC and JDM BOV running 24psi mad exactly what your saying 330whp but not one time had the car stall on me.

Lol, that's why you get the car tuned for the extra load, and up base idle. Otherwise yes it may stall after cam install.

I agree with the guys, intake and exhaust then throw a good tune in there would be a good start!

Turbo Back Exhaust, Thats your best first mod, and what everyone else said too, then the second is your intake, and use a good one too. Then a Fuel pump, then a boost controller, Then go to a tuner. You will be around 330whp with a good tune. Your motor responds very well to the mods.
