O, and I was an old duffer at 30 when I finally got my evo 9.
^^ what he said...

that being said, im 24 years old but have been under my own insurance since i was 16 and paid dearly for it (try 300/mth for a Geo). It made me realise that if i want to keep costs down, i need to be a safe driver.

0 accidents and 0 tickets in my life *knock on wood*...and driving experience wise, just look at my car list... more specifically the Geo Metro. Try driving that thing in a 30 cm snow fall with only 1 plow in a town of 1500 people.

Now at my age, i have the full 7 star insurance rating, i can get an Evo with a $10/mth premium increase over what im paying now, and when i turn 25 i get my rates slashed in half. Not only that, but i know i could handle it more then well enough with the driving experience i have in Canada.

Thanks to my parent's mentality that if you want something, you got to pay for it yourself...insurance and all... it made me see and appriciate every car i have driven. I don't think a lot of 20-somethings can say the same.

And about the thread... it seems like everyone and their mother can afford an Evo in the USA compared to Canada. I wish i lived in the states where any 20 somethign can afford one.

Its burtal how the price of an Evo in the states gets you a base Ralliart in Canada...

I got the Evo when I was 27, I wanted it a while back but the money and cost to own it didn't make sense. Still Doesn't but I am managing it!

Isn't that the truth! These cars are great - way more than I NEED - but we make it work.

I'm 27, and before my Evo, I owned a GSX and TSI AWD (in my early twenties). I don't think I could afford the insurance if I had an Evo when I was under 25.

Smile You could add a poll with normal age ranges

Interesting thread. That way people can see a poll too without looking at all 20 posts. Just a thought.

about 4 weeks ago finally got an VIII at the age of 30. i needed to purchase a lumbar support cushion within the first week. im enjoying getting dirty looks from guys driving stangs, camaros, vettes, stis, and even other evos as well as hearing "hey nice car." never heard that driving my old 99 stock civic.

26 when I got my first evo (2 houses later and about 1 month before I'm supposed to get married). I found an awesome deal and just took it without consulting the fiance (DOH!). She's ok with it though just thinks it's impractical since I'm into alot of diffrent sports (snowboarding/kiteboarding/stand up jetskiing, etc). Anyways I am very impressed with most of the younger people on the forum. When I was 18-20 talking to the younger people who had nice cars they always told me how they invested their money. Id spend about 15 minutes intrigued and find out their parents gave them money to invest and essentially they just pulled it out!!! Heres to the honesty on evolutionm forums

I was 26 when first got my evo because I couldn't find a house in my area I wanted and gave up on house hunting. Went out and purchased the evo and found a house on the way back from buying the evo.
Now I have my evo VIII and my own home, funny how that worked out.
