60k maintance

This is the first 60k maintance that I have done on any vehicle, so I was wondering is it neccesary to replace the waterpump?

Honestly it is not if its not broke dont fix it. Could be more headache than what it is worth. Just do the neccessary oil and coolant flushes, brake changes and air filter replacements. Unless it is really something seriously major with the car dont even bother.

60k mile maintenance includes the timing belt. this is something you want to be proactive on. Considering the labor you will save doing the water pump at the same time, I would say yes, do the water pump

yes do the waterpump while your in there. theres no telling when a waterpump will fail, so better be safe then sorry. or you will be paying that high labor charge twice

While the water pump change isn't strictly required at 60K, the thinking is if you're already in there for the timing belt change, then just change the water pump as well. A little PM if you will.

There's a high chance you are asking this question because of the lack of funds or you are just trying to cheap your way out of the situation. Change the water pump. It's so easy to do, especially when you are pretty much going to be changing everything down there anyway. Same goes for all the idler pulleys. I did my 60k maintenance myself, and didn't change the idler pulleys, so take a big guess what I was doing a few months down the road.

If you are mechanically inclined, save some money by doing the maintenance yourself. It's not complicated at all.

Is there any place where I can find the kit without the timming belt? I just bought the HKS timming belt and was thinking about doing the 60K maintance, but I didn't want to buy another OEM belt

Im only at 50k right now so I was only asking because I have never done a 60k maintance all the previous cars I have owned have had much more miles. But you are correct my funds are short as of the moment. But this is why I was asking about this now because I knew I had to do the belt and all the pulleys I just wasnt sure about the water pump. Im just trying to get an idea of how much money I am going to need to do this job.

Thanks for all the answers, I was pretty sure I was going to need the water pump but I just wanted to make sure.

$600-$800 would be my guess. Including the water pump change.

It would be cool if you were around where I live, I'd help you out. I might charge you some, but not near as much as a dealer would. The link above is the entire oem kit.

I would say change it all. Heck I have 4 used waterpumps in the garage all with 60k on them. Only one ever leaked.
