looked for a very long time and drove a number of them. Most were either too beat up, too expensive or both. A few were nice but too extreme for a daily driver. I was looking for a DD that I could also take to the track 4-5 times a year. Finally found a 06 GG in nice shape and with moderate mods that had enough low end to be a nice DD but enough power also to be a fun track car. The seller changed his mind about selling the car and then got in touch with me two months later. The rest is history

Where I live I needed something that could handle the conditions, had some go and had electric windows for all 4 windows lol (owned a big turbo built srt previously) and than I settled on my tb 9 se, didn't want black and still two years later don't like the color lol (wanted white badly) but I got a rediculous deal on it with really low miles one owner and clean title with all records. Now im back on the same road to destruction (big turbo, cams, portwork etc) for the evo lol

I've always wanted an EVO since I first drove my uncles in 2006. During jury duty one day, I was searching these forums for a car. The P.O. posted the car and I **** you not, 5 minutes later I told him it was sold. A week later I picked it up. Been 6 months now and car runs like a dream with over 100k miles on it

The original Mitsubishi Evo commercial on Youtube blew me away. Sure I've seen it on the streets. But to see a fine A$$ chick drive a Rally Red IX the way she did, literally got me aroused. I've owned 2 Evo IX's, looking for a 3rd as we speak.

I first knew of the Evo when I saw Who Am I, the Jackie Chan movie.

A few years later when the WRX came out, I was really into the WRX but was still in college, so it wasn't the right time for me to be getting into a new car. I remember seeing some sketches on Road & Track of what they thought the next Evo would look like (which was to be the US-spec Evo VIII), and I was leaning toward the Evo since I remembered how much I liked it in the movie and had read some articles about the Evo VII from past issues of Road & Track.

When the 2004 STi debuted in one of the auto shows a couple of days after the Evo VIII debuted, its numbers were superior on paper, as they had dropped the bomb with the announcement of the US-spec STi having the 300 hp 2.5-liter. I was leaning toward the STi, thinking that it would be no competition, but even the first 2003 Evo was putting up some serious performance numbers that I couldn't ignore.

The 2005 Evo VIII MR was available in graphite grey, which I thought was a really nice color. When the 2006 Evo IXs came out, I was more pleased with its slight exterior and interior update, plus the engine specs were nice. I test drove one eventually and really liked how it felt. I had already graduated from college, and in February 2006, I had purchased a brand new 2006 Evo IX in graphite grey. To me, the MR wasn't worth the money over a standard IX, though admittedly I did want the HIDs and wheels. I would've gone with a IX SSL if the leather on the seats were better, as I felt like I wasn't being gripped by the seats.

It was bittersweet later on that year when the IX SE was introduced in the summer, which was pretty much what I would've wanted, since it was less expensive than the MR while having some of its goodies (HIDs, wheels, roof) along with the better looking front lip but paired with the more durable 5-speed.

The following February, I was in a situation to upgrade, and I was offered too good of a deal that I couldn't pass up, so I traded in my still bone stock IX for a brand new IX SE in the same color. Graphite grey looks great when clean (like black) but it hides dirt very well (like silver), so I decided to go with the same color again. Had the IX SE been offered in white, I may have gone with white just to change things, but I'm happy with my choice to this day, as grey also hides some tiny scratches and blemishes pretty well, particularly ones on the bumpers. I paid this Evo off several months ago, and I hope to keep it forever. It's my daily driver, and I just passed 36k miles within the past week.

I used to ride fast bikes back home, untill I got stationed in China. I'd never been in a real Evo before I got mine, but had allways known of it and the Impreza, thanks to Gran Turismo and Top gear.

Since I got here, i decided to switch to cars. At that point I started to seriously dream of getting an Evo. Got a 2L Mazda 3 at first, to get used to driving. Got bored with it after about a year. Sort of thought of getting a WRX as there's no STi's available, but then figured I wanted something with more power. A new Evo was still a bit too expensive here and 2nd hand ones are very few and far between.

So then I thought of getting (don't laugh) a 3.8 L Hyundai Genesis Coupe...

Had pretty much resigned myself to that untill one day I see my current car for sale. There's probably about 20 pre-X evo's in Shanghai, so finding one for sale is like finding the Holy Grail. Met the guy the same day, drove it, loved it, wanted it. Had my mechanic buddy look it over and bought it the next day. Spent pretty much all my savings at the time on it, but it was worth it.

I once drove a '78 Trans Am. This car was hopeless in the snow and so I was looking for something sporty but good in all conditions. I ended up owning a '92 DSM 6-4 combo - dumb luck I guess.

My wife Sharon also drove a Trans Am but in the winter she would drive my DSM. She had a bad heart and so there was no way she could get out and shovel if her car became stuck in snow.

One night, on the internet, I was showing Sharon the new Evo 8 that was coming to the USA. She loved hot cars and she asked if we could get another vehicle. She wanted an Evo. She died a few weeks later.

The Trans Am, in mint condition, went to Sharon's niece – her wish. That left me with the DSM which had accumulated plenty of miles. It blew a radiator at the time of the funeral.

So, some weeks later I drove the 100 miles to the nearest Mitsubishi Dealer to see first hand what the Evo was all about. I wasn't much impressed until I got behind the wheel. They made me a great deal on what has been a bullet proof car.

I've owned quite a few srt-4's, crx's, motorcycles (r6, zx6-r) etc.
I think the whole reason I got out of the car thing though was because I was sick of people keying my car, egging my car, merging into my lane without signaling, door dings, people just being dumb. I had a lady merge into me on my motorcycle while I was going 30mph, to this day I dont know how I was able to save it from crashing but I did. Then I hopped off my motorcycle and said enough with that I'm never getting back on. Then I got into Standup jetski's and my whole world changed I got a 4runner to pull the skis and didnt look back.

I started getting bored driving and missed my srt-4. I began shopping for WRB sti's and evo's and in WI (about 2 years ago) there are few even within 5 hours of driving for a resonable price. I found a 06 with 36k miles last wednesday at a reputable dealership 2 hrs away for 21k and since I had been doing research for several years I knew this was a good price. I did not want to have a car payment, however I figured I can keep the car for 3 years and maybe it would depreciate 5k, however if I bought a car I despised (ford festiva, etc) I would have suffered the same depreciation and not have gotten any enjoyment out of it.

So in summary I bought it because it continues to hold value the same way even well taken care of 3000gt VR-4's do. I also read the eopinions site and nobody except for one person had anything bad to say about the EVO's on there. I had just gotten done reading tons of reviews about econoboxes with tons of issues (2007 honda civic with a block issue @ 80mi not covered under warranty). I'm under the assumption that since these are race cars essentially they are built to a higher spec than the rest, which could be why there are less issues.

Was looking for a WRX at the time and never really looked into Evos. Was searching around for 3-4 months for a WRX but never found a good one at a dealership. Then, I decided to search Evos on Autotrader just to see what Evo is on sale and there I saw it. Beautiful as it can be. Price was really good and it was the only Evo within a 50 mile radius. I couldn't let this car get away no matter what. My dream car that I thought would never own in my life ever is now in my driveway. Even to this day, I still look at it and just can't believe I have one.

The story of my Evo all started on here, EvoM

I had a supra turbo when I was 15, SRT-4 when I was 17, had like 5G's in mods on stock turbo and could barely pull a high 12, I was on evoM asking questions for my buddy who bought a new IX MR SE in 07 and wanted the ricer BOV sound, so I was finding out about MAF issues and warrtalon replied to just put an intake exhaust tune mbc setup on it, itll make the sound and make 350whp, run high 11's/low 12's for around $1200... So that really got me thinking

Within 1 month I was searching dealers, 2 weeks after that my SRT was totalled cuz some guy ran a red light, so I drove my BMW for 5 months while searching for the perfect Evo... 06 Evo IX MR SE with less than 10k miles, unmodded unmolested, adult owned, and mint condition, I knew it wouldn't be easy but it was worth it, I was ridiculed by my friends because of my "impossibly high standards" and I was only 19 trying to buy the most expensive/optioned Evo I could get. I was almost desperate enough to order one of the last graphite grey IX MR SE's from south coast Mitsu for $36,600, but I ended up finding a dealer executive owned apex silver IX MR SE with 8004 miles for $33,200 out the door, tax title licensing, down at Pearson Mitsu in Richmond, Virginia... After 14 months of stock power and learning the balance of pushing an evo to the limits I bought $1200 in mods (used buschur intake w/ Perrin filter $150, new GReddy Ti-C comp tbe $675, used hallman pro RX mbc $40, used injen licp $50, used ACT clutch w/ 50 miles $200, E-spec tuned) and ran 12.1 @ 113 first pass ever with the car in 95* weather... So that's a little EvoM inspired evo story... To this date I still haven't gotten to thank warrtalon... Here was the thread from when I bought it*

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ew-evo-ix.html

Here's the thread from my 12.1 pass and my predictions... I had faith

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/dr...ed-1-4-et.html

Looking back I never woulda thought I would get my dream Evo, or even mod it up like I have, and I deff never expected 11's or a spot on the top 20 fastest stock turbo evo's list... Now the next chapter of my Evo saga begins... This winter I'm finishing my built drivetrain and going big aiming for 600+ on pump, and close to 800 on race... If I have come this far, I can go further !*

Back in December of 04 i just got rid of my Z06, come January I was in need of a new sports car bad so I was looking at the new GTO, the only problem the new GTO was due to be released in March and I had to wait almost 3 months if I wanted it. I don't like to wait one bit, I needed that instant gratification so I went car shopping again. Saw the new STI in white and I wanted it but the only problem was again I had to wait about a week to get it.
Im like WTF should I do??? So the next day I started reading more and found out that the EVO is the direct competitor to the STI. The same day I went to Maywood Mitsubishi and traded in my other car 03 Full Nismo body kit 350Z. They gave me 23k for the Z and I bought my first EVO an 05 GG MR. She's in my garage now sleeping with over 540whp 31XXX miles just waiting for me patiently.
This year I needed to buy another car for tax reasons, so what better car to buy? of course I bought another EVO, a 2010 MR Touring in Phantom Black.
Now here comes the crazy part, my DD just blew a rod 05 Jeep GC 4.7, I went and got a quote for a 2010 MR Touring in WW. I might get her this week )))
Soon to have 3 EVO MR's in my garage. Just call me MR. EVO MR lol

Wanted an Evo when I was in Highschool for my first car, the family as a whole couldn't afford it so I saved for one, eventually bought a Lancer but was still saving for an Evo. 2 years ago went to go trade my car in along with the Ex's car for an Evo X and saw a used Evo Ix sitting there calling my name. Talked the guy down after i found out there had be a front end collision ended up out the door with an Evo IX for 12,367.89 had 48K or so miles on it. Got it home, obviously had been modified, have had it ever since.
