Stories on what made you get "that EVO"
I once drove a '78 Trans Am. This car was hopeless in the snow and so I was looking for something sporty but good in all conditions. I ended up owning a '92 DSM 6-4 combo - dumb luck I guess.
My wife Sharon also drove a Trans Am but in the winter she would drive my DSM. She had a bad heart and so there was no way she could get out and shovel if her car became stuck in snow.
One night, on the internet, I was showing Sharon the new Evo 8 that was coming to the USA. She loved hot cars and she asked if we could get another vehicle. She wanted an Evo. She died a few weeks later.
The Trans Am, in mint condition, went to Sharon's niece – her wish. That left me with the DSM which had accumulated plenty of miles. It blew a radiator at the time of the funeral.
So, some weeks later I drove the 100 miles to the nearest Mitsubishi Dealer to see first hand what the Evo was all about. I wasn't much impressed until I got behind the wheel. They made me a great deal on what has been a bullet proof car.

I watched fast and the furious 2 and saw the evo. Riced out but still nice. Then i went on youtube and started to watch dynoflash videos, evo launching videos etc and fell in love with how good they look and most of all, the hidden beast in them
As funny as it may sound, I bought myself Need for Speed Most Wanted during Christmas of 2005, and as I was checking out the cars in the game, I came across a WW Evo IX and the looks of the car just had me admiring it for a long time, until I decided that one day, I would have to own one. Well, it took about 4 and a half years, not to mention almost being sidetracked by wanting a STI and then, a S2000, but I finally picked up my Evo IX in late June of this year and its been great
My first choice of color was a WW but I couldn't find one that was close. I ended up getting the RR instead. Im happy with my RR I think its bright red color gets more attention. Good nor bad.
Watching Jackie Chan work his Evo VII in the movie "Who am I?" definately made me want that exact model. I had to do a lot of research to find one, but it was worth the effort. Bought it in February 2006. I drive around a rare model Evo that isn't even sold in the U.S. and it makes me feel good.
My wife loved it so much, that I had to buy her an Evo, as well. I bought her the Evo VIII in February 2009... which is FAR different in handling, power, cornering, and breaking!!! Evo VII for the win! LoL

One owner, he was 63 years old, a retired engineer, and the car did not have a single ding/scratch on it despite having 80K miles on it. Also, it didn't hurt that the car was bone stock and cost me less than 10K out of pocket

started out with a basic bolt on 1.8T 4dr golf, best it went was 14.4@97.. shortly after bought a beater (88 GLI) delivered pizza with that and started making some biggg money so i ended up piecing a big turbo kit together (gt3076r) with all supporting mods, on 15psi it went only 14.1 @ 106.. few weeks later, the flywheel bolts came loose so i ended up pulling the motor, putting in a set of rods, then ended up turning the boost up to 26-27psi and it was pretty fast at the time.. ended up making 350whp/330 tq at a dyno day.. but with a 1.8t always came problems, i never got the car to run 100%, always something going wrong, weak tranny. so i ended up getting sick of that **** and parted the car out, sold it stock.
after riding in my buddy's IX RS( 11.2 @119) i knew exactly what i was getting, a couple months later, a RR IX RS was in my driveway, drove it stock from july 09 to october, went 13.1@103 stock then the clutch died lol (39k) put it away, next spring put in an exedy twin, ran it again stock and went 12.98@103... now with a few bolt ons and e85 im running 11.60s @118.
i don't think i will ever sell this car. absolutley love it.

I have always loved Evos and bought my first yellow 8 about 6 years ago. A year after that I traded it in on a new Evo IX MR. I fell in love with that car and had it modded with 408 AWHP. For some stupid reason I traded it in for a 2007 BMW Z4 coupe. Thought id go for something sporty and luxurious as I was getting a bit older (25). I loved the BMW, but didnt feel like a drivers car so traded it in on a new M coupe. Decided to sell that and bought a 335i coupe. Loved the 335i, but everytime I saw an evo on the street I missed my old ones so much! So I went and bought a new Evo X! Sold the 335i about a year ago and bought a used Evo IX MR GG about 6 months ago and have parts ordered and on their way
So now I have 2 evos and honestly I think ill hold onto these forever.
