thinking of getting Megan CO

Any complaints with them, or a better similarly priced alternative?

Thanks,
Tony.

P.S. I searched with no luck.
My car is a DD and has a few bolt ons like greddy EBC, injen icp and air intake, hks ssqv, RS*R exhaust turbo back with stock o2 and stock manifold. I figured a mods list may help.

Do it right, do it once. Is there anything wrong with the megan's? No, not really, but the way I see it is if you daily the car, that is even more the reason to get a better set of coilovers because you will be spending more time driving on them.

I agree that you should do it right once, but your argument that you should spend more if your getting a DD setup isn't good.

People on the track depend on cutting down their time by fractions of a second therefore they will spend that extra coin.

But definitely get a decent set of coilovers. Like i said, check out Stance, a lot of people like them and they've been getting a lot of buzz right now from the STi/Evo/240sx/S15/350Z guys lately.

Disagree 100% Btw, what I wrote isn't my opinion alone, it is also Robi's. In fact, those are almost his exact words. If you know that you are going to be driving the car all of the time, it makes perfect sense to invest in a quality setup and if you are going to track the evo, an even better setup. I have driven on multiple coilover setups in my evo and others and the big name, high end coilovers all performed and felt much better and are a definite must to a daily driven evo.

If you aren't going to get a nice set of coilovers, get a set of MR Bilsteins and swift or similar springs with the appropriate rates.

Coilovers that I would recommend for the street and that have been recommended to me are the Ohlin DFV's from muellerized, JRZ from muellerized, or KW clubsports from Robispec.

They suck. I learned the hard way. Save up for some KWs or ASTs.

I agree with you 100%. I wouldn't waste money on megans when you can spend a little more cash and get a much better coilover.

I had the street and track version of Megans. I ultimately went to the Swift/MR setup. What are you goals and why not save for the better quality, nicer handling of Bilstein, KW or other similar proven setup? Megans only accomplish one thing in my opinion -- height adjustment. The ride quality is so much worse than stock. If I had to do it all over again, I would go straight to the Bilstein/KWs.

The right product for you is a spring/strut combo. Whether or not you will admit this and not buy coilovers for the sake of buying coilovers remains to be seen. But you shouldn't buy junk coilovers because they're cheap and you have no reason to spend the money for expensive coilovers. dhonda's got it right.

Moved to Newbie.

There is a ton on this already. Searching would show that.

Like others have stated Swift/GTWorx/Robi on the MR or HD Bilsteins > for a DD (and HPDE/AX).

We're arguing the same thing haha Spend good money on DD coilover and even better on a track setup.

Like everyone said, unless you wanna spend a lot of money, get the Bilstein's with Swift/GTWorx springs.

If you really want coilovers then skip the cheap junk and at least buy something nice. By nice, I mean $1800-2000 MINIMUM. Otherwise, just get a quality spring +swaybar. Listen to Smike and GTWorx, they know their stuff when it comes to Evo suspension.

It says up top that I searched, it only showed people saying about other Coilovers and not the Megans. I also felt that this was the Correct place to ask this question. The point of a search is to get answers not look for three hours to find no pertinent info, and I do stress pertinent.
Everyone else thanks for your feedback.

Tein basic's are good for DD conditions. Really no need to spend a ton unless you can afford KW's or bilstein. Megan's are really stiff such as the tracks but I wouldn't consider them worse than stock. Also if you're just looking for a good ride there's not really any point in getting a coilover setup, especially KW's, they don't go very low and the spring rates are much different than stock. Get a good spring and strut combo and call it a day. Otherwise fork out the money for some really nice coilovers and do it right the first time.
