cat vs no cat

Does going catless effect the pitch and noise level of your car? and your opinion is it worth rolling around in the streets catless ? ive heard many things about the penalties upon being caught from a fix it ticket to getting impounded

yes it does. and it depends on where your located. Im in new mexico and am cat less but theres no emissions law and the cops dont care unless its horribly loud although i recently got a ticket for a loud exhaust but i was speeding and the cop didnt have his radar on so he charged me for the loud exhaust lol then said it sounded pretty good but loud lol if your in cali your f"ed!

It really all depends on location and the mood the cop is in, I've been catless since I got my car, so for about 2 and a half years. Never had a fix it ticket for loud exhaust and I live in Socal lol

your exhaust will get pretty loud without it but its worth it..as far as getting fined i live in ny and have never heard of anyone getting caught...there are thousands of hondas running around here without a cat..im not too worried about getting caught since they focus on them.

it's really not worth it if you live somewhere that it will become a legal issue. there was a test done on this forum with a test pipe vs high flow cat, and there was only a 1-3whp difference between the two from what I remember. just go with a Mil.Spec 100 cell race cat. stay legal, and make power.

that won't help when it's time for emissions tests.

Yea likely not in Cali

Some places just have visual inspection though. Then there is places that have no emissions inspection or testing at all.

No. On a midly modded car it's almost pointless

Does a 100 cell pass? They don't do much.

1. Yes, it can effect the sound of your car.
2. On a street car? No. It uncorks some horses, but it's illegal while contributing negatively to the environment (if you care about that kind of stuff, assuming that you breathe).
3. Seeing how you're in L.A., it's definitely illegal in California, and getting a fix-it ticket is the least of your worries. If they find out that you're catless, you can be cited for it and receive a pretty hefty fine, though the law enforcement officer could impound your car if they feel like it, especially if you and your car match the street racer profile.

In the end, is the potential headache worth the hp? In a state like California, I'd say no. I'd say look elsewhere for things to mod if you must, perhaps parts that are less obvious to the law.
