You're driving on "summer only" high performance tires, what do you expect?

the evo in the snow is great. you can't drive a car on ultra performance summer tire and expect it to be good. your tires really don't like the cold and they turn to stones when it is freezing outside. any car without the right tires will suck in the snow regardless of 4wd,2wd or 1wd.

go get a good set of tires and than come back and tell us if it sucks!!!

That is your major problem, this car need winter tires to behave the way it should. Stock rubber is not perfect for this type of weather. You can live with it but you will not enjoy it. Get the winter tires and then tell us how you like it.

The stock tires suck. I stopped driving after about 30 minutes, went and got a grand vitara. Sooooooooo much better in the snow. I don't have money Blizzaks now

unfortunatly this information is incorrect,

you can't "live" with the stock tires on the snow and it has nothing to do with enjoying the car. the stock tires of the EVO are very close to R compound which makes them not only unsuitable but also dangerous under snow and freeze conditions!!!!! if you drive with the advans in the snow you are putting yourself and others at risk. there is a reason that put that sticker on you door panel, and i for one think that you should take that advice before you hurt yourself.

i don't mean to flame but i just want to help people before they get into trouble over something that can be avoided.

That's exactly what I said, you need winter tires not the Advans, they suck at this type of condition. Also I don't think it gives you a lot of pleasure hiting the breakes and seeing how the car struggles to stop (in Advans ofcourse).

My advise thiner the size of the winter tire for the snow better for you. Just check the WRC cars how "wide" tires they have when they rally in the winter.

this is funny because i came online tonight to post how GOOD the EVO was in the SNOW. I have the Sumotro (or something like that) 89$ a tire from TIRE RACK. Anyways, since no one is going out tonight I went to the liqour store and there were cars stuck everywhere going up this hill that is near my house. I tell you, the EVO had no problems at ALL getting up that hill. I was SHOCKED. I mean the EVO is NO jeep or anything, but the car was relatively good in the snow. At this hill, there was 2 kids stuck with HOOKED up GTI's and one accord.

i know thats that what you meant but if you read your post again you will notice that someone might read it and think that you can actually live with the advans on the snow. i was simply stating the fact that it is not an option to change the stock tires for the snow, it is a must!!!!!

So I am assuming that you took the sticker off your door panel and didn't actually read it first?

Summer tires = good in summer ONLY.

All season tires = good in all seasons

Winter tires = good in winter.

I would strongly suggest you go buy the tires that are appropriate for the season, then create an informed opinion about how the car handles in weather.

SC~ whos moving this off to the newbie forum...

Didn't Mitsu put stickers and stuff on your car stating that the stock Advans will not work in snow?????????????????????? At least mines did! Try looking for the sticker on the drivers side right under the window. I think even the video that they make your watch also mentioned it.
