Question Upper Vs. Lower I/C piping

So i just got an evo 8 for a steal. Running beautifully but its stock except exhaust and intake. I was wondering what a few cheap bolt ons are recommended and what the difference was between upper and lower intercooler pipes.
thanks,
steve

I guess the only thing that guide doesn't mention is the tendency for the stock rubber hoses to blow off when they get old or are introduced to higher boost levels.

that would be another benefit for the uicp besides making more room.

the upper pipe does nothing for you its just aesthetics man period. The lower pipe aids in spooling of the turbo.

OEM lower vs ETS lower

The OEM pipe is less then 2.0" on the 90 degree bend which makes it very restrictive on flow. The 2.5" all the way through helps with the transient response as well as throttle response.

Good luck on your upgrades. These cars get addicting fast!

Incorrect. When your running a shorter then stock UICP, you will see improved transient response, throttle response and a lil gain in spool.

But yes, between a LICP and UICP, you should buy a LICP first.

I would also like to know how you came to this conclusion?

Lower pipe is worth it as a basic bolt-on. Keep in mind that the upper pipe requires you to run a mini battery which can be a pain if you want to run a short route pipe.

ETS has a upper pipe that still allows you to use your standard battery. Save money on a mini battery kit but whats the fun in that?
