In my 03 owners manual im about 99% sure it says you can tow as long as the item being towed does not weigh more then the evo.

haha... it just wouldn't seem right to see an evo with a hitch on it.

I have some delusions of getting an older DSR for B-Mod autocross and towing it with my evo. Id def want a 2.4l swap, but full load on track for 30+min sessions would create more stress than a 2000lb tow at cruising speeds.

Could always rent a U-Haul pickup truck for the day.

Towing capacity: Up to 5,500 lbs.
But I know it doesn't answer the original question.

That's impractical. I go out to the water at least 50-60 times a summer. Lets say its only 50$ a day to rent + gas and mileage = over $3,000 a summer.

I see your point. Figured it could be a option if you only went out a few times a summer. Guess not all of us are so lucky

if I saw a tow hitch on a Evo I would give the driver a "WTF" look. I have a fourwheeler also but that is why I have a truck. But if the Evo is your only vehicle guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

Some people think its sacrilegious to turn an evo into a mundane task handler like towing but with its heavy duty diffs and all the superb factory cooling, it should be able to handle light duty towing like a champ.

I wouldn't hesitate to tow ~2000lbs around as long as the tongue weight was low enough and the trailer had brakes too.
