NADA:
TOTAL PRICE
Rough trade in $14,200
Average trade in $15,375
Clean trade in $16,325
Clean retail $19,175
KBB:
TOTAL PRICE
Clean retail- $21,650
Private party-
Excellent $19,250
Good $18,200
Fair $16,500
Trade in value-
Excellent $17,300
Good $16,300
Fair $14,600
So obivously the dealer paid pretty close to trade in value. How should i go about getting the car for $17,500 like I offered?

any pictures of the actual car? you need to find out if the timing belt has been changed and there is records of it for proof. it is an expensive service so if it has not been done then you can try and talk the dealer down on price
Thats true, I was planning on asking that...I have a guy that can do it for $400 so that wont be a problem if its not. Acctually I m hoping its not so I can ask a mitsubishi dealership to qoute me over the phone then tell the dealership it will cost $1,300 on top of what I knock down on the car.

and just because trade in is 17500 doesnt mean they dont have to pay for a detail, and pay for any parts/labor to have it nice enough to put it on their lot
I would say if your interested in it and you feel the price isnt fair I would offer them nada value, lowballing 3000 off their price (which is near kbb retail) is not going to get you anywhere
