Got new evo mr

Okay so I got a 2005 evo mr yesterday. Had a few questions about it. The car has been worked on at ttp performance out of Orlando. They said it has hks cams aftermarket intercooler walbro pump an intake of some sort manual boost controller and maybe a few other mods. It made somewhere near 330 on Dyno. First all does that sound right and what sort of time would the car run in 1/4 just a guess. The work was done in 2005 so it may not all be on there still I don't receive the car until tomorrow when they bring it. I was just getting an idea of what I have if it still has all the mods? Thanks guys I'm new to the evo world.

Depending on the tune and dyno, it might be right.

I would say get it and take pics.

Good luck with it.

Also se other random things. How well does the trannys hold up in them as far as launching at track and are the bottom ends forged factory?

The 6 speeds are very fragile, so lauching em isn't the best. You should be good with around 330. Thats a good estimate from the mods you've given us, but if your planning on drag racing go with a 5 speed. Lastly the bottom ends are pretty stout. Not really "forged," but they have been proven to hold up to 450 ft/lbs of torque reliably.

honestly i would take it somewhere to get a retune just to have the peice of mind that you know ur ok. who knows the car could have some crazy tune that can cause trouble down the way. send ur trans out and get a 5 speed and you'll be ready for more mods.

well im gonna dd the car. I still have a SVT lightning in the garage that i take to the track. Basically im looking to have a DD that is a reliable 12 second car or low 13 i wont be taking it to the track all that much. With the six speed and the power it supposedly makes now. Would say like a 4k launch just destroy it or is that okay? Im completely new to the awd scene

Well think about it the mr was never ment to drag or launch, its a buy and take to the track car, and with about a hundred more horses at the crank over stock I would just take it easy. Id just drive it, maybe save up and upgarde this summer when u can get the truck out for a few.

so with those mods without a hard launch just a slow release should still be a good time and like 2500k launch wouldnt be hard on it surely.

launch on the two step and slip the clutch there been 6 spds go into the 10s mine is making a lil more than yours it spins off the line with i think helps the tranny because its not bogging down, a low rpm launch will only bog you down ad help break things

it is usually set at i think 5600 or 5800 in first with the clutch in. If you have a stock clutch and launch it good luck mine held to well about 3 of them. I put a act hdss in mine and it has been good with my mods in my sig i went 12.2 @112 letting the clutch fly at 2 step with a 1.7 60' Like others have said get a tune by a good tuner for piece of mind. A tune can make a awesome daily or it can make for a giant headache. good luck with it

FWIW, my IX with a TBE (w/cat), MBC, an upgraded FMIC, and a STM tune runs low-13s with no launch - simply driving off the line - windows open, shifting gently. The car pulls 310-320whp on STM's MD.

Gears 1-3 are stronger on the 6-speed. I'd suggest running a quick search for launch techniques. Good luck.

as far as i know the car has factory clutch. i still haven't recieved the car it should be here this evening or tomorrow. Im not gonna be taking it to the trakc alot just maybe once to see what kind of time it does. It is going to be a DD so i just want it to be reliable. But with the things that are supposedly on it i just want to know if i get into a stop light battle i can drop the clutch at 2-3 k without it coming in pieces. So if i ever came off the two step on factory clutch i should def slip it?

Then, take the car to an Evo-specific shop, have it checked out and retuned. No joke.

If you drop the clutch at 2-3K, the car will bog. OTOH, if you gently slip the clutch at the same revs, the car will take off. This isn't a launch, however.

So if i ever came off the two step on factory clutch i should def slip it?
Did you run a quick search for launch techniques, as I suggested on the previous page? We could sit here and try to explain it, or you could save us all a little time and effort, read a bit, then come back to the thread.
