Question about Intercooler Piping

Hello, I am on a tight budget as I am in college so i can't get all of the upgrades that I want, but I was wondering if I could upgrade my Intercooler Pipes in my 2008 Evolution X and if I can, what brand piping and will I need a tune?

You can upgrade the piping and there are plenty of good choices. I'm personally partial to the solid 1-piece designs (no welds, no couplers) such as the pipes sold by Nisei and Cobb. If you'd prefer a 2-piece design you can also check out ETS' and AMS' offerings.

I'm not trying to go off subject but what is your goal? Power? Looks? Reliablity??? What ever your goal is your gonna need to save up cash. As far as your question goes you don't need a tune BUT of course could benefit from one.

Brand wise you could go with any that were stated above, I have ETS piping (2 piece) on my evo 9 and they are great. Only thing I can suggest is don't get steal piping (I had steel piping for mine and some how ended up with rust in it) Just my .02 and welcome to the site

Aluminum is the way to go for intercooler piping; only think I'll use on my cars since it's lighter in weight and doesn't retain heat.

I prefer SS IC piping myself. No chance to distort with piping tightening clamps as I have exp with aluminum and piping won't get dinged to hell from road debris as I have exp with aluminum also.

SS doesn't rust so no worries there. To each their own though

Black Piping?? You mean old style Mild Steel piping that ETS used to make coated black?

Thats why I said prefer SS (Stainless Steel) as quality stainless will not rust
