Evo 8 Question
Nope it's a full set of Injen piping. My next step is replacing the o2 housing with a MAPerformance open dump housing. Hoping to see approx 320 after that.
No, aftermarket cams do not "ruin" your engine. They just allow the motor to make more power.
This should help give a little perspective... https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/se...ne-review.html
I have a very similar setup... it really depends on the amount of boost you are running, etc., but rough numbers, you are looking at approx 310-320hp if mine and others I have seen are any indication.

Those are some pretty good numbers. Now only if he had also installed a 9 turbo the numbers would have been in the 345whp range or so. That's great, my "planned" setup will yield me the gains I'd like. Just about done with the mod list finally lol..
I thought the OP said he did have a 9 turbo
Good luck with your setup!
Agreed a 9 turbo would've made a lot of difference... I am currently rockin the 9.8 hotside turbo, so power is definitely being bottlenecked... additionally, the 8 stock cams are decently restrictive... upgrading those 2 pieces and a BR FMIC (heat soak at my boast level is a biotch) are my next thoughts for my setup... spool for me is key.
Good luck with your setup!

If I were you I would try to find a reputable nearby shop that works on Evos and discuss different options with the mechanics. You can achieve multiple combinations of numbers with different mods however you need to consider what risks you are setting yourself up for. Sometimes it is better to aim lower on numbers and have a more reliable tune that will give you some longevity. I spent eight years getting my car to my goal starting at 320hp -> 350-> 380 -> 474 -> and 515..
The higher you go the more probability you will have of something going wrong if your car is not built correctly. 350 is a very reasonable area to start and can most likely be achieved with a good set of bolt-ons. My Evo 8 had 320hp on my first tune with a TBE, intake, boost controller, inter cooler piping, fuel pump, and a tune.
Now, my car has a slue of different mods with two different maps set. I have one for 93 (474) and one for 93 + meth (515). Just take your time with it, do some good, logical thinking, and talk with your mechanics. Try to figure out what you want to use the car for, find out if that is reasonable, and go from there.
I know I have been kind of vague but I don't want to unintentionally send you down the wrong road. For instance, my car will never see the drag strip; I don't care what it does in the quarter. I have it for road driving in the mountains and some spirited street driving... If you have any particular questions feel free to PM me; maybe I can help you with some decisions. I am not the end-all answer to Evos but I can generally give you a direction to head.
Good Luck!
Josh
PS - I am not bashing people on the forum but don't take what people say on the forum to heart. This even includes what I said above. I have posted different questions in the past and had people suggest completely retarded ideas / solutions / recommendations. Listen to what each person has to say, think about it, and ask those that have a lot of experience on the cars. (shop mechanics are typically reliable but you have to watch them as well.)
