Looking for Summer performance tire for SSR GT7 17x8.5.
Suggestion for tire size please.
No rolling. Will be installing GTWorx Springs shortly.

Thanks

Best two choices would be 235/45-17 or 255/40-17.

Last year I've ran my EvoIX with GTWORX springs and many other suspension parts (including Perrin PSRS with offset) on 8.5*17 +30 RPF1's and 245/40/17 Z1* without any single issue at all. No rolling, no fender work, no rubbing.

The car seen DD, few track days and quite some tarmak amateur rally with the setup described above.

This year I'm going to run all the same, but switch to 255/40/17 tires with that same set of rims - from what I've seen last year there is enough room for slightly wider tire with slightly larger OD (compared to 245/40/17).

You should be totally good to go with either 245/40/17 (tested by myself practically) or 255/40/17 (theoretically there should be no issues at all).

Thanks guys. 245/40 or 255/40 it will be.

I put on Conti DWS for Winter, great for bad weather however I would never want to run them all year. Way too much roll..

The 245/40's are going to loose you over half an inch of diameter compared to stock 235/45's. Where as the 255/40's only loose you a quarter.

I'd either stay with the oem 235's or use a 245/40 which a lot of others have. Lots of stuff to choose from in both sizes. Looking for a max perf tire or something more daily driver friendly?

Mostly daily driver. These will be dedicated Summer tires. Looking for great performance.

Neal,
Why not 255/40?

Little wider than normal, but suppose you could get it to work. The 245's are also a bit more popular a size.
