How do evoM members/others get sponsors??
I have precision tuning as a sponsor. Rich the owner is a great friend of mine. I give him tons of business, my evo was one of the first evo's they did work on and tuned. I do events for them with his name on my car and rich has always helped me out wether its questions I have or some little things I need done by him.
I think it's more of a relationship then the car you own. A lot of shops have certain qouta's you have to hit as being sponsored by them.

and it was moved because Mike says so. Respect his authoritahhh.
Being sponsored can be a great thing, but often you can find just as good of deals by talking to some of these vendors and being polite and cool with them. I know on just about everything I have purchased, I have gotten a substantial discount just by calling and talking to the guys.. keep that in mind before you just click add to cart and pay full price with your credit card.

OP excellent thread. There are lots of factors we consider before sponsorship.
1. Is the car intended going to showcase our product to the fullest? Since we offer a Performance related product and not just a good looking part.
2. What other products are on the car i.e. Quality. We as a company want our product aligned with other Quality products...All part of brand recognition.
3. What standard of work has been done thus far? Car has to be neat under the hood (out side also) and not jumbled with loose wiring like spaghetti all over the place.
4. Character of person being sponsored. In the past we along with other vendors have sponsored for a lack of a better term "unstable individuals". Over the last few years we've sponsored several cars that too often get parted out and sold before ever seeing a track. Just look thru this forum and you'll see what i'm talking about...today part A is excellent and as soon as the next day they are horrible. We monitor a potential Sponsoree's posts to see if they meet the standards of conduct we would want to align ourselves with.
5. What has the individual accomplished before asking for sponsorship? This doesn't mean that you have to have a record but you have to be capable of doing something that the average person hasn't to get attention of potential Sponsors.
