torn between an STi and an Evo. pweeze help

Hey guys. I currently have an Accord and am very much wanting to get into the Evo/STi game. From what I hear, it's pretty much a push between the two. I hear a lot of people say that Subaru is more reliable, which is important to me as it would be my DD. But, you just can't deny the pure sex that is the Evo IX. One of the best looking cars ever in my opinion.

I could literally go either way on this one. Should I just shop around and get the best I can find, no matter the brand? Will one of them steal my heart when I see it in person? Anybody that has had both cars I would love to hear from.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Honestly if you can afford a 2006 STi with LOW MILES go for it id trade my car anyday for one only cause i DD my car... if it was track... by far the evo. And it depends on your plans with the car the evo is easier to mod.

Oh these threads always go well especially on a car specific forum.

With that said each car drives completely different. I would agree that the STi is a better DD. If you want to go fast then Evo no question.

If you get an 07 STi get the tune checked out as the stock tune was poop. The 05 was probably the best model year IMO (07+ gears were better though).

And regardless what you've heard being a non-biased Evo owner I've still heard of far more blown Subaru engines than Evo. Evo's are VERY reliable as long as you take care of them. If you beat the hell out of any car it may break.

In the US:
4G63> EJ engines
STi transmission >> Evo transmission

If the Evo is just as reliable as the Sti, why do you recommend the Sti as the DD?

The sti has much better low end torque and is much more comfortable/ plush for dd. But as mentioned earlier, if you want to mod, track, or build a monster, Evo>sti. If your sticking with the basic intake, tbe, and tune then I would say sti. They are comfey.

This. I've driven my buddies STi around a lot and I like it better as a DD. On the same note my car is still a good amount faster and easier to make faster.

But the STi interior feels nice, the ride is less jarring and the seats aren't as aggressive. Along with a couple extra amenities like auto climate it just suits DDing better. The low end torque on an Evo 9 felt as good if not better than an STi.

NASIOC has a ton of information on their site and I would suggest looking through that along with what was posted earlier in this thread. After you've read enough to get the basic pros and cons of each car, figure out if that's going to be a deal breaker in any case. If you still can't make up your mind I suggest test driving them both.

While stock for stock they may run similar times around road courses they drive 100% different. The way they handle and drive will be immediately noticeable. When I drove my first STi I actually really liked it and almost bought it. That was until I drove the Evo a week or so later and I knew right away which one I liked better. They are THAT different where you will more than likely like one over the other depending on your driving style and needs.

Either choice is good imo. If I could get an STi dirt cheap I would DD it and keep my Evo as a fun car.

Buy both (Evo and Sti)... This will elminate any random b/s ''evo vs sti'' debates you might ever run into.

I was in the same situation in 2007, could not decide between the two. I did some reaserch and bought an evo 9. If you are not going to mod you car buy a suby. From what i have seen and heard they are not reliable cars when moded. My buddy works with both (buys them on an auction and fixes them) and last year he got a suby with bad block. He went to thr dealer and bought it the same day, my point they had it in stock and it was 1800$....my opinion they are not reliable cars. On the other hand i bought my evo9 brand new and i put a lot of money in to it and i have it stored during the winter times but in warmer weather i track the **** out of it, and never had a problem since i take really good care of it. I think evos are better cars if you are going to the track with it, that probably means you are also going to mod them. They are mod friendly un like subyssss. This is only my opinion and please do reaserch before you buy. Btw i also wound NEVER buy eather one used. Good luck bro

IDK why everyone thinkgs the STI's interior is so much nicer then the Evo. Atleast with a IX i think the recaros and black interior are sharper looking then the STI. And i also thought the ride of the IX MR i drove was much nicer and less jarring then the STI.

The only real plus ill give the STI is the sound and Cruise control. Both great cars, but there even in almost every aspect. I just like the recaros that much better then the STI seats, and i like the responsiveness of the quicker steering ratio. Thats why i think im going to end up with a IX MR instead of a STI.

I liked the recaros with red stiching until somebody stole them on july 4th 2007, but i got 13000.00 from insurance for them....hihihi.....so if you get the mr or se evo 9 keep the car next to your bed.
