I recently got an evo 8 MR. I know you lose alittle weight in the mr due to the aluminum roof and all, and you gain the extra 6th gear. As far as I know the turbos are the same. I dont know muc about the mivecs but I do know I like the 4g63t engine in the 8. Im new so im just spurting out every intelligent thing I can think of at this point...

im in the market right now and im really on the same page trying to decide if the upgrades on the 9 are worth the money . eventually im looking for 400-500awhp . and in the market a couple grand is the difference between the 2 and im torn wl you as well partnah ! make the best choice let us know what you decide !

this topic has been beaten to death. the IX will always be better than the VIII, but at what cost?
yes the IX is better, but is it worth, for example, $5000 over a similar condition VIII? i would say no. if the difference was only $2000, then i'd vote go for the IX.
in all honesty, i think the combination of price, mileage, condition, choice of mods should be the bigger deciding factor than anything.

i dont understand you people can some PLEEEEEEASE explain where the f**K does evo 9 have a stiffer chassis???? ITS THE SAME CAR AND SAME CHASSIS AND SAME SUSPENSION (besides MR) the only DIFFERENCE IS.....YOU READY FOR THIS??

The MIVEC isn't overrated. The stock gains over the 2005 VIII indicate otherwise, and any basic mods (tune, bolt-ons or both together) will yield even better numbers. The only time where MIVEC won't make much of a difference is if you are going big with hp (say, well north of 400 hp).
