Smile New to forum, already got big question...

Hello everybody! Thanks for letting me join your forum. I hope to learn something about these cars and maybe provide some helpful info to someone on here too. I hate to start off with what could be a dumb question, but here goes.

I just sold a 2002 Camaro SS with a built LS2 making about 600hp on motor alone. I enjoyed the car, but it really was too aggresively tuned/cammed to drive on the street. It just got to the point it wasn't fun because of an extremely rough idle and grabby clutch. My only previous fast car was a built Fox Body Mustang. Just giving my background in American muscle for info purposes only. I've also owned several fast bikes(2000 R1 and 2005 ZX10R, plus motocross bikes). Now for the question. I am about to buy another toy(fast car). I have come to the conclusion that to have a fast street car and retain driveability, you really need boost. Big naturally aspirated motors can make big power, but like the camaro I just sold, driveability is sacrificed. I am leaning hard towards trying a 2005-07 EVO, but only because of the good things I have heard. I have never even ridden in one. I am also considering a similar year model STI or a 2003-04 Cobra. I was wondering if there was anybody on here that had owned each of these cars or at least made the jump from late model American muscle to an EVO. If so, how happy are you with the EVO? Would you make the same choice again? I definitely don't want this thread to turn into a flame war about how American muscle sucks. I personally like all performance cars regardless of country of origin. I just happen to be more versed in American muscle. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and again for letting me join the forum. Sorry for the long post....

Hello and WELCOME
I have had only fwd cars, but have been in MANY mustang saleens and KB cobra's , once you drive/ride in the evo, its the AWD that caught me and pulled my in lol, it made my decision VERY fast. its the GRIP that I love hauling *** straight is great but when you come around the corner and exit like a Amtrak
feels like yer on rails, the 0-60 is there especially for the strip. and there is no prob getting out of the hole in th evo lol. Also just sorry all but it is "practical" for daily driving AND racing or spirited driving, it just a ALL AROUND AWESOMENESS lol
Hope this helps,
but you really need to find one and drive it to see
THANKS,
Richard

I had an 03 Evo for a couple of years.... and now I have an Evo X. My last sporty car before this evo was my C6 vette, it was fun to drive and all, but I enjoyed acting like an asshat in my 03 Evo.... enjoying on ramps and offramps or any twisty road. It's really hard to compare them as they are soooo different. I would rather drive my old evo around town every day, and the vette for a road trip. The best advice I can give is for you to go drive any car you remotely like on paper. You might be like "this sucks" and mark it off the list... or you may be astonished.

Went from a supercharged C5 Corvette to an 05 STI to an 06 EVO. I don't miss the Corvette at all, it was pretty much like your SS, lots of power but it broke a lot and just ended up not being very much fun. The STI was fun but they are just not the same as an Evo. They are not nearly as sharp, the seats blow and they just don't make as much power mod for mod. I will have another Corvette someday but the Evo isn't going anywhere.
