I had somebody ask me if my stock turbo was a gt35r this morning lol

 

Some dude asked me if the car was a real evo...

 

That isnt that surprising. It seems our Subaru counterpart has a TON of WRXs that get the STi makeover. Dont really see that with evos though. Maybe thats where he was coming from?

 

I thought this was a funny story.. My girlfriend worked at Caribou a while back, and I used to go there to study after I got off work while she closed. I parked out front, and would get attention on my car from time to time. This one day I was there, this guy was ordering his drink and asked her if her Evo was out front. I just shook my head in the distance with a grin continuing to read. I couldn't help but think he was assuming it was hers because she was the only Asian being in the place.



At a Gas station a while back filling up, and this guy legitimately asked me if my car was the new skyline... -_-

Him-(looking at my turbo) there is no way, the turbo is way to small
me- its a 6765...........
Him- how much boost do you run?
Me-28psi on the street, 36 on e85 at the track
Him- Holy ****! its not gonna last that long running 28psi on street, I run 13psi
me- been doing it for 2 years now with no problems

AHH I love this thread!! A few weeks ago at taco bell in my buddies IX, an SRT-4 pulls up and the driver (dead seriously) asks, "does that thing have a turbo?"

I just tell everyone its a lancer with an sti swap.

 

Some guy at the gas station once asked me if my car was a real Evo and when I told him it was he got all stoked and said he loves driving them. I asked if he had one and he said no, just on video games. Hahaha

 

Guy at starbucks said nice subaru.

 

At the local Walgreens and the guy at the Redbox machine with his gf says hey I used to have the exact same one (nodding over at my IX MR). I asked him what year (thinking I may be asking stupid question as the USDM IX we all know are '06s but with the kid looking high school age I figured maybe but also maybe he had an VIII with a IX conversion or just a VIII as they are simiilar enough, either way I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he probably owned an evo).

His answer was "It was an '08"

Suprised I ask " Oh mines an '06, so you had a ten?

His answer yeah "Yeah it looked exactly the same as yours"

As to not embarass him in front of the gf I just said "Cool" and walked away. If I had stayed and asked any more questions he was gonna look stupid. I figured the high road was the way to go but I had to share it with someone.

 

I always get asked what's my top speed. The hell kind of question is that?

 

Way back (read the 70's), it used to be a legitimate question. It could be used as an indication of power, cause more power equaled more speed. Still is with supercars or hypercars, but much less relevant with tuners which often start life as econo boxes that get 2 gazillion horses added to them. You actually end up running out of gears before the power run out.
