I have an Evo 8, Should I buy a 9?

I have an Evo 8. 110k miles. I don't have ACD, and obviously no MIVEC. It's paid off. I'm looking at doing some major upgrades like a 2.3 stroker, gt35r. But I'm wondering if I should buy an Evo 9, then upgrade that one. Opinions?

no. your car is paid for so why move into something you will have to make payments on on top of modding the car?

Money isn't really an issue. I just want to know pretty much which has more potential. Is ACD good to have? MIVEC make that much of a difference?

if you plan on building the motor or going to a bigger turbo there is not really much of an advantage to either platform

depends on what your plans are for the car... if it is strictly a street car then don't bother, like one said above, your car is paid off. Spend the money on mods. In terms of power mod for mod, it will make little to no difference. If it is the cosmetic stuff that you may also like bout the 9 then that is also an easy fix. Nose chop or 9 bumper and swap the interior.

As for the ACD... again, for a street car this really doesn't come into play. Well at least not for most people.... pushing the car hard on the street on twisties is a dangerous affair and can end up costing you a bunch of money if not a totalled car.... some people will disagree but my 2 cents.

I think it would come down to how nice the 8 is, ifb it was me and the 8 was nice id keep it, if it was kinda hammered, get a nice 9.

Hey thanks for the input guys. My evo isn't too banged up. It's got just over 100k miles. Evo 9 front bumper, and a JDM Evo 9 rear bumper. A few paint chips here and there, faded brembos & the drivers seat bolster is kinda worn down. But all that is simple stuff that can be replaced. Thanks again.
