Mazdaspeed 3 > Any Evo :)
Edit: Teaser pics of "new" 2003 Tarmac Black Evo VIII on page #5
Ok so maybe the best way to start and introduction isn't by lieing lol. Nonetheless I joined this forum to start learning all about the Evo 8/9 as I am now starting to part out my fully bolted 2009 Mazdaspeed 3. It dynoed 321whp 356trq so the car wasn't really a slouch by any mean but I just wanted more. I had recently bought a T3 Precision 5557 turbo as i had planned on going big turbo and shooting for 400+whp on stock block, clutch, and tranny. Many people think the Speed can't handle the power but with the best tuner of Mazdaspeed's in the world helping I was sure to be successful.
Fast forward to a couple weeks ago. I had really struggled with whether I should go big turbo just because of having to buy a cheap daily driver and the possiblity of me going zoom zoom boom
So it was then that i decided I had plenty of money and experience with cars that it was time to UPGRADE
I'm parting out now and selling all big turbo stuff and will be rolling around in a mostly stock (besides intake, motor mount, and exhaust) til I can save up even more money and buy an VIII/IX outright in cash without having to worry about a monthly payment and being able to mod away as soon as possible
I joined to start learning plain and simple! i can't wait to get one and I'm glad to have joined your forum
Here's a couple pics of the Speed 3! I love it to death and the Mazda community but I feel its time to get something AWD as I want around 500whp out of a car and an Evo with the 4g63 is a perfect match! NOW PICS!
Enjoy can't wait to join the family!

I'm not sure if I ever recall anyone I know that has switched or just bought an EVO that hasn't LOVED it! It's fun, fast, handles, reliable, and nice! You can have power everything with sunroof or "rough it" in an RS
Either way I think you'll be very impressed with how well these cars respond to minor bolt ons and tuneablity! Welcome!

you would not be dissapointed with an evo, stock block has been proved many time to hold up to 550 whp, and more in some occasions. AWD>FWD all the way so you would not have traction issue thats for sure

I may have seen your speed around STL before, i remember seeing one and thinking "damn love the wheels" haha I was considering getting a speed6 for the awd, but decided the evo was the way to go, i had a normal mazda 3 before the 8 and i definitely made the right choice!
PM meI know I can't wait! I want a stock block car capable of serious power and the Evo is very much that!

I'll upload an exhaust video soon I guarantee it's one of the louder 4 bangers you've ever heard! Lol. Least as far as Speed's goAppreciate the awesome welcome thus far! Much MUCH different from Mazda*********** lmao! I'm gonna love it here getting an Evo is much to far away
Open deck. Direct injection. Pencil-thin rods that like to go through the block when you put on even an intermediate sized turbocharger and reasonable boost through them. That engine is not designed to go fast. If it's power he wants to make, swapping to an Evo is a great plan.
out of genuine curiosity, did they very figure out why those motors were going? I used to stop by the mazdaspeed forum from time to time, I think the last thing I ever remember reading aobut it was the oiling system or something that one shop was looking at?
i was really interested in one of those cars (still am) for a daily but the engine issue scared me. Always seemed to be when people were just making a low rpm regular entrance to a highway road or something
