Future Evo owner.
Hello all, my name is Will I am 26 and I currently do not own an evo but it is my goal to own one this time next year. I have been a Honda tuner since I got my license, but the day I saw my first evo, im pretty sure it looked better than the hottest girl I've ever seen. jk (but seriously
). I currently own a 2003 Honda S2000, and I love my car, but its not an evo. I remember the day I went from FWD to RWD it felt like Christmas in 96. But now im hoping for that same feeling when I go from RWD to AWD! I have a pretty good amount of knowledge when it comes to hondas but I have minimal knowledge about mitsu. I had a long debate with myself weather to go with an evo or sti and I have settled on an evo for many reasons. I've been told by friends to go with the sti because evo's have tranny problems and issues with the xfer case. I did some research and a ton of reading and have still been led back to the evo as the better buy all around. I'd like to start by telling you guys some of my goals and humbly accept any advice you guys can give me.
1. I want to have ac,ps, pw and a full interior and be able to run 12's
2. I want to build a reliable DD
3. I dont wan an obnoxiously loud exhaust with these goals
4. I want to get decent gas mileage
With these goals what can I expect price wise on mods + tune? and do my goals seem realistic? (if not please point me in the right direction) Thanks in advance!
I look forward to meeting everyone and learning allot.
p.s. Here is my car list and a pic of my current car.
1. 1991 Honda CRX DX (stock)
2. 1989 Honda CRX HF (230 whp)
3. 2000 Honda civic ex (bagged)
4. 1995 Integra GSR totaled(fully built 500+ whp)
5. 2004 Honda accord V6 HFP (260 hp )
6. 1998 Honda Prelude (240whp)
7. 2003 Honda S2000 (current)

If you end up buying a salvage title one make sure you ask why, what type of accident it was in. Dont be like me and get to exicted when you see the car and looks good for a steal of a price, then once you have the car you start to notice all the cons. But im still happy with my Evo, love it.
P.S. welcome to EvoM
P.S. welcome to EvoM
2. Easy
3. Keep it with a cat and/or add a resonator or two
4. Don't drive around like an asshat
With that being said, welcome.
Thanks for the heads up talonesi95t, ill definitely carfax any car I'm serious about. Evo8426, I'm used to the Honda world where every car gets gutted to save weight so I wasn't too sure about evos. On my 500hp integra I kept all that stuff, plus I live in fl so AC is crucial. Btw I'm looking to buy an evo8 (idk if that makes a big difference) how much HP would I need to be around to run 12s? And thanks for the welcomes.

The local tuner here in MN set the world record by using a stock motor, stock turbo Evo 9 MR by running a 10.2 I believe and made over 400 torque. Tuned to e85 of course!
I was planning the same thing you are and here is what I was told I would need to get my Evo 8 to 400whp using a STOCK IX TURBO.
Stock IX Turbo + IX J-Pipe
272/272 cams (I was gonna use Kelford)
1000cc injectors (I was gonna go Precision
Walbro 255 Fuel pump
Full FMIC set up (I was going to go ETS)
A nice aftermarket BOV or a stock IX BOV crushed
e85 tune
Honestly you can score some great deals on a lot of these parts or buy new, it's up to you. Figure just about $3,000 in parts and tuning.
Welcome to the site! I came from a Honda world for 5 years, then the Subaru WRX turbo world for 2 and now this. When you get this Evo be prepared to not care about any of your other cars, cause this one will blow them all away hands down. I know that's how I feel!

The car stock will run about a 13, sub 12's are not far away with just a few mods which is already on most used evos on the market. All that is needed would be intake, exhaust, possibly bigger intercooler, and tune and you will have it with good driving. Chances are that you will not find a gutted evo except for the real all out drag cars.
