Evo as a DD
Thank you everyone for the input. I must say that having 90% of the people that having post for a different car other then the EVO was not expected.
What I have in store for both cars.
The Vette is fixing to get long tube headers, intake manifold, ram air intake, roller rockers, valve springs, pushrods, and a nice tune in 2 weeks.
Evo, or other car (if stock) will most likely be a nice intake, full exhaust, and tune. Keep it simple.
I'm the type of person that can't leave well enough alone. I've never had a car or bike that I didn't mod in some way or another. I'm also not a soft guy when it comes to my cars.... I like a stiff ride that can hang curves. Bumps have never bothered me. I have no kids as of now, with non on the way. But the wife says we need a 4 door.
In the past few weeks I have been reading and reading and have to say that I am leaning more towards the EVO. Like you guys say though... it is hard finding one that hasn't been beat on. But, I believe it can be done.
Thank you guys again, and keep the info coming.

I live in GA.
It will around mid to late oct before I'm buying... but that really is just right around the corner.
I got ahold of the guy so we will see what he says.
Thanks again!

in my opinion evo livability (or lack of) is greatly exaggerated. the only thing i've ever found myself wishing for was cruise control. i've got a double din put in but these days all you need is a smartphone for nav. 4wd is great, rear wiper is great, rear leg room is not bad, trunk space is not bad at all.. on all seasons i get roughly 27mpg on the highway (usually a little more) but I hardly ever step on it these days.
however for your particular needs I am also gonna side with the MS6. i think you will be really tempted to mod the evo beyond what you described - by a lot. and considering the price range it may be easier to find a ms6.

Thanks man! I'm sticking with the 8 as they seem to be lower in cost then the 9 and 10. About an 03-04 GSR is really what I was looking at.

So 27mpg... that is pretty good! I would be happy with that. I really would be happy with 23-25mpg. lol
My vote goes to the evo.
$15k will probably land you a 2003-04 evo with >80k mi. If you find one, make sure the 60k maintenance had been done (~$1600)
Although I only get 17-21mpg, I still love my evo as a DD. I have 70k mi on my evo (bought with 35k mi) and besides the regular maintenance (oil, tires, brakes), the only problem I had was a throttle body gasket leak ($23 part + $100 labor).

The odds are strong that you'd never see those numbers. Having read the thread, I hope you don't mind my saying that you really don't sound like an Evo kinda guy; really, you might be a lot happier with something else. Have you considered a G8? There's little chance of you finding a stock or a stock-ish Evo for $15K that isn't beat to sh/t. As you're new to the platform, expect a few headaches. Good luck.
