Evo as a DD
The odds are strong that you'd never see those numbers. Having read the thread, I hope you don't mind my saying that you really don't sound like an Evo kinda guy; really, you might be a lot happier with something else. Have you considered a G8? There's little chance of you finding a stock or a stock-ish Evo for $15K that isn't beat to sh/t. As you're new to the platform, expect a few headaches. Good luck.
Let me ask you something then... How do you sound like an evo guy? what makes you an evo guy?
Ok wait clam down. I am not, nor have I argued with anyone here. All I'm doing is collecting information. I just asked you a question, not to start an argument, but to see what you think an evo guy sounds like and what makes someone an evo guy... that is all.
This is what I know about myself. I'm a sports car guy. I get sick everytime I think about being stuck in a "normal" daily driver that looks like everyother car out there and does nothing but transport myself from point A to point B. Just because I drive an American sports car with a big V8 doesn't mean I'm stuck on a V8. I respect all cars that can do great things. be it a twin turbo inline six, a 4g63 that can handle over 450 whp on stock internals, a midengine plastic car that that only makes 220hp but weights just enough so the wind doesn't blow it away. I mod everything I own. I like going fast. I have an automotive technology degree and have rebuilt engines from a D17 honda to a 1969 chevy 427 V8 in a matching numbers Corvette. I'm just trying to wrap my head around what makes me sound like, or not like an evo guy, what makes anyone an evo guy... or an anything guy for that matter. Not arguing with you, just asking you.

I bought my evo for $14,250 with 51k miles on it with it needing brakes, EGR Valve, Spark Plugs and a Battery. Now it sits on jack stands in my garage until I get an increaser pipe or just go straight pipe with the rear o2 spacer since my CAT blew up on the side of the highway. Parts on any EVO is kind of expensive so you have to think about that as well as the loud cabin depending on exhaust, CRAP for speakers, and poor gas mileage. I love my EVO and as I stood there histerically crying deciding at a dealership to sell it or not I backed out faster than ****. Thank God I'm moving to Florida for a much better job... now I can totally restore my Decepticon back to health.
Speaking of Florida... I'll be living in the Apollo Beach area, 35minutes southwest of Tampa City... are there any Evo Teams down there? Would love to be in one! Since there are none here in Syracuse, NY (At least none that I know of... I'm one of maybe 5 evo's in the area.)

I totally agree with you on this. It's always my #1 concern. Mine sleeps in my garage rather than the driveway just to give me some ease when I sleep at night haha!
A car does three things. You only talk about power. The folks who are happy with the Evo long-term appreciate those three things. This is an extremely focused machine - it's not just another 4-door with AWD and lots of horespowers. It's brutal, raw and unyielding, and if it isn't what you want, and I mean exactly what you want, you'd be happier with something else. That's the truth of it, as evidenced by the number of owners carried by the average $15,000 CT9A. Good luck.
The only thing that used to bug me was not having cruse control on long trips. Also I would try to avoid a modded exhaust if you do lots of highway driving or at least have an exhaust that you can make quiet somehow.
I would also say LGT. Or you can go completely different. Get a Forester XT. Better than all the of the cars named here as far as performance and overall usefulness IMO. More space than any of the cars mentioned. My brother has an 04 that he got a sick deal of $6300. Has a little higher mileage, but runs awesome. He has a TBE and a Cobb Accessport and it is decently quick. Most of the 04 STi stuff swaps right in (the engine is actually from an STi) so it's pretty easy to bolt-on performance to it. Plus it's a rare car. My brother's gets complimented all the time because most people don't see them very often.

And Evos can get good gas mileage. My road trip to Deal's Gap a few weeks ago (8 hours one way) I averaged mid to high 20's on a bolt-on Evo (TBE, MBC, injectors, fuel rail, tune). I made most of the trip on one tank of gas. On the other hand my 35R Evo gets 20mpg if I'm lucky.
