Need help. Would you?

I want a quick car that handles better than my RX8. I just had a baby, 7months old, so I need it to be four doors. My goals with the car would be to kill it on the back roads of Tennessee where we vacation alot. We also have a dirt road back to our cabin so AWD/4WD would just about be necessary because of the snow. I know that the EVO is a bred rally car but how much so is one of my questions.
I have been reading these boards for years but I think i am finally ready to pull the trigger.

Idk but that price seems a bit steep fora 03 viii also to answer how much of a rally car the evo is my answer a lot more than ur rx8 :-P but to be serious back when stock I use to tear thru gravel roads on the stock summer at very fast speeds including a few areas being air borne. (don't do this by the way feels like death with a stock suspension)

Yea this is the reason my 8 has never been up to the cabin. I could NEVER get back there. I would have to rent a cabin at the national park down the road.

Funny you say that because I just found that car on Craigslist for like 17,500. The road back to the cabins is pretty serious. It is steep up and down with some ruts. We usually fly in and rent a 4wd truck to get back in there but I have heard of people getting in and out in cars just not in the rain or snow.

I concur that it is steep and Im really not one to pay for someone elses mods if I cant also get the stock ones too. I think I will go and take a look after I call a local evo shop to see if they will give me their advice.

I've got an 8, it was fine on stock suspension for off-road (ok clearance and not too stiff) - once lowered/changed coilovers (like the one in the pic) - it was too low and too stiff in my opinion to do any off-road w/out worrying about hitting something underneath...

I have no issues with the 4 doors in my 8 they actually work very well since there is no b-pillar. I am no small guy (fat) and have sat back there a few times to let other people try it out. It really loves turns but as crazy as it sounds the EVO is much more of a practical DD. It gets better MPG, has 4 doors, and a trunk. I just need something that will pull my face off in a turn like my 8 does.
