Evo 9 or evo 10
I'm planning to buy an evolution next month but I haven't decided on what lancer evo to get.. I like the performance of evo9 but I prefer the looks and the technology that lancer evo10 offers.. HELP me..
After getting an oporotunity to drive a X really hard I can say you'll find nothing lacking, performance wise, in that platform. The reason I'd get a 9 is because I think they look so much better, but if you like the look of the X.....

The 4G63 does have a big market for parts but you are also looking at an engine that was introduced in the 1987. I still remember the big uproar that happened when everyone found out they were switching engines but so is the case in any big change.
Engines ~ The 4G63 does have a benefit of taking more abuse but it's also nothing that a sleeved block can't fix. Internal wise you'd still have to at some time replace them in either car, but the major players say the 4B11 sleeves are only good to 500 before they start to roll. The rods are the tricky part for it as well because they seem to be weak from the factory.
Aftermarket ~ The Evo 9 platform has been around longer so you would have more parts out for it. The Evo 10's already have a great selection of aftermarket parts made by all the big named companies that it's predecessors have.
For the money I would rather get a new or slightly used 10 over a higher mile possibly beat to hell 9. Unless you plan on going for a complete build right out of the box.

Important Questions: What are your plans for the car now? How about in say, 5 years? Going for big power, minimal bolt-ons, fully bolted or staying stock?
