I bought mine in Chicago and drove it home to NC all in one day.

All I had was a temp tag the dealer gave me, the bill of sale, and I called my insurance company when I bought it, printed off the proof of insurance. That's it. As long as you have the bill of sale showing that you just bought it, cops should be (SHOULD BE) cool. Just be sure not to drive like a douchenozzle on the way home. It is tempting, and you may want to do it, but DON'T DO IT.

Take bill of sale or registration plus proof of insurance to DMV and ask for a temporary plate. Here in Colorado it costs about $6 and last 30-90 days.

Yeah in Idaho they can give you a temporary license plate for 30 days. Call the DMV in Utah and I am sure they have something that will help up out.
