SST you can drive in automatic mode (MR and SE comes with SST). Otherwise you use the padldles.

The GSR comes with a regular 5-speed manual.

I was in a similar boat when I bought my X. I had only driven a few friends cars when i was younger that were manual. I knew I wanted a stick so I went out and bought the GSR and very carefully drove it out of the dealer. Got good at it within a few weeks and within about 6 months I was auto crossing and within a year I was drag racing. Do it! its a blast. unless you live in LA or something with ridiculous traffic.

It's well worth your time, if you bothered to read this forum and even type something to "Post", to learn how to drive a manual transmission. It is not hard.

I was intimidated in my youth about the shifting of a motorcycle, it had my terrified and I was convinced it was just too hard to learn to do well, quickly. Wrong. Get someone to teach you, get a way to get practice (thinking cheap car!) and you'll find an entirely new set of experiences that you'd regret on your deathbed for NOT having done. Good luck, just remember that the tricky part isn't giving the gas, it's phasing in the clutch with a bit of feeling that it's beginning to engage AND move the car forward. The gas pedal part is easy peasy -- pretty much the same thing I had to learn with a 1-down/4-up motorcycle tranny shifting.

Find a parking lot, spend a few hours with a nice patient friend. You'll leave there ready to go buy your own first MT car. I'd not recommend an Evo though, too much going on and this car is NOT an easy car to drive, it's got so much happening at once, happening fast.

Do it! You could always get the SST but it's very possible (like friend I know) bought an automatic sports car, and within a month or two were searching for manual!
